    2005 Mazda Tribute - s (A4) 4x4

Pros: Overall look and the 6 cyl engine.

Cons: Would have liked XM Sat radio as an installed option (like the wife's 2005 Equinox has).

Advice: Enjoy it! It's a blast to drive.

Fast, and an attention getter. Just picked up last nite at Wayne Mazda in NJ, so I don't have a lot to say yet. The CD changer wasn't swallowing CD's correctly so the dealer replaced it with a brand new unit from another 2005 in 1/2 hour today. The 7 spkr sound system option is awesome!

    2003 Mazda Tribute - ES V6 (A4) 4x4

Pros: Interior...especially the leather. Also like the in-dash 6 CD changer.

Cons: Placement of the gear shift

    Advice: Buy one now

I have had my '03 Tribute for over two years. I am very happy with it. The acceleration is great and the handling is smooth,

    2004 Mazda Tribute - ES V6 (A4) 4x4

Pros: Handles like a sports car

Cons: Would like larger gas tank

Advice: Give this SUV a serious look.

I've had my '04 Tribute ES for about 3 months, and I'm still smiling. Zero initial defects. I love the leather seats, responsiveness, handling, overall quality. Fuel mileage is about on the EPA estimates (18/23 mpg). Visibility's great all around. Cargo space sufficient and good for its class. Rear window opens separate from hatch, and the rear hatch flips up instead of opening like a door, both desirable features. Best in class occupant safety ratings. Good interior lighting (although lacks glovebox light). Sporty suspension and ride, minimal roll during cornering, agile and competent feel during all maneuvers.

    2005 Mazda Tribute - s (A4) FWD

    Pros: GEAR SHIFT

    Cons: HIGHER STEP IN

Advice: DRIVE FOR AWHILE TO MAKE SURE DOES NOT MAKE ANY STRANGE NOISES

LOVE THE CAR BUT AFTER DRIVING FOR A DAY HAS DEVELOPED A CHIRPING NOISE WITH THE TURN OF THE WHEELS. SOUND CHANGES WITH SPEED OF TURNING OF TIRES. WILL TAKE TO DEALER. WHAT IS WRONG?

    2004 Mazda Tribute - LX V6 (A4) FWD

Pros: Its sporty look with moon roof and stero system

Cons: the seats could be padded alittle more ,but they are still comfortable.

Advice: deffinitely get a V6 and if you don't need 4x4 the 2wd gets better gas. and runs great.

I end up as apassenger more than a driver, but I love it very roomy! No big floor humps in the middle like some we tested which cut down on leg room. the Tribute has plemty. Its good looks gives it compliments from everyone. I love the stereo system and moon roof, plus lots of cargo room when the seats our folded flat. We got the LX 2WD saves more on gas, Drives like a car I dont like driving high vehicles but this is easy to get in and out of, plus you dont feel like you are driving a truck. The next vehicle I buy will be a Mazda but I think I will go up to the ES, only for the leather seats.

    2005 Mazda Tribute - s (A4) 4x4

Pros: moonroof or new console shifter

    Cons: seats

Advice: definitely test drive before buying something similar.

My wife just bought her third tribute so I guess you would have to say she likes them, a lot. The ride on the 2005 does not seem to have quite the same sports car handling in the curves like the older ones. The trade off is a much smoother, quieter, bigger vehicle feeling ride. I think most people, especially the ladies, ( who don't drive like a Sunday racer, like me) will really like the new feel and drive. I also like the console shifter much better, finding the older column shifter balky at times to get into gear. I still feel the seats are a little on the firm side for long trips but maybe that's just my age catching up with me. The stereo stats seem the same but it sure seems to sound better to me in the 2005. A much deeper, richer, fuller sound. I think they put in improved speakers. I think I have been on the conservative side in rating the Tribute. I find it to be an excellent vehicle. A pleasure to drive and a bargain for what you get compared to simalar SUV's.

    2003 Mazda Tribute - ES V6 (A4) 4x4

Pros: midsize seating for compact pricing. very comfortable to drive.

Cons: gear shifter is in a lousy location. but since its an automatic.. its not a big deal.

Advice: 2003 and later is reliable, and u get midsize SUV for compact SUV cost.

potential buyers.. know 2 things when u are considering the Tribute. a) Any quality/reliability problems was only few of the 2001/2002 models mostly attributed to new design issues. I am yet to hear of any such problems with 2003 and later models. b) Bang for the Buck - Mazda Tribute. costs (with rebates) similar to Honda CRV/Toyota RAV4.. but much bigger and more comfortable than those. Size is just a bit smaller than the Highlander and Murano but costs $5k less than those.
