Pros: windows roll down on sliding doors
Cons: cd player doesn't play mp3
Advice: if you want a car like minivan, this is greatWe were trying to replace a 1992 Chevy Caprice wagon (big) and were undecided between the midsize wagons (volvo s70, mazda6, and vw passat) and minivans (Toyota Sienna and Saturn Relay). We really didn't want the size of minivan (it's my husband's commuter car), but needed space for 1 maybe 2 kids and a large dog for weekend trips and annual vacations. The MAZDA MPV is a great compromise as a small minivan with a much more car like ride. Roll down windows on sliding doors is a must. Like the second row seat reconfiguration options, and the tailgate of the 3rd row. Can get a great price on a 2004, but LX stock is limited (much cheaper than an ES).
Pros: The power sliding doors
Advice: Test drive this before you look at other minivans or SUV'sWe have had SUV's in the past (4Runner, Tahoe), & they either ride too much like a truck(4Runner), or are hard to manuever & park(Tahoe). We decided to test drive minivans, so we looked at the Toyota, Honda, & Mazda. This was the best deal, & came with everything we wanted. The $3500 rebate also helped with the decision to buy. We love it!
Pros: Car-like ride, 5-speed automatic
Cons: Receiver hitch installation geometry.
Advice: Research thoroughly and assume nothing.I am interested in this van because it is something my wife can drive. Driving a van can make her very nervous. I have not purchased yet, but now is an excellent time to do so because of the $3,500 rebate, which can make the vehicle cheaper to buy than a used 2003 MPV. I like the car-like ride and the 5-speed automatic, plus the convenience features of the folding seats. The spare tire does not look convenient. I am still negotiating. My hang-up is the design for a receiver hitch, which requires a different muffler and exhaust tip, and all I want a hitch for is my bicycle carrier. Very bad design feature.
Pros: Price, value, fit and finish, driveability, room
Cons: 2nd row leg room (I have a 34' inseam)
Advice: Buy a loaded LS unless you absolutely must have leather (ES)Powertrain is very smooth and it doesn't hunt from the right gear in hilly terrain. If you like to 'DRIVE' but need the room in a minivan, this is an excellent choice. The fit and finish are excellent. Noise levels are refined. The power sliding doors are a real convenience feature and are very slick in operation. The stock LS radio sounds fine but I really wish it had an aux input for my MP3 player... but many vehicles share the same problem. It's not the biggest minivan, but it certainly fitted my lifestyle, garage, and taste more than the other minivans out there. With the July 2004 rebates, it's hard to touch it with a sedan or other minivan for the money. Highly recommended.
Pros: middle windows roll down.Smaller size easier too park & get around.
Cons: Sometimes hesitating at low speed.
Advice: test drive throuraly.Check transmissionSometimes wants to hang up between 2nd & 3rd 20-40 mph.DRove great on interstate trip of 300 miles.Gear lever too long, gets in way of radio controls & cup holder underneith if you have big cup.
Pros: Too many to list!
Cons: don't know yet!
Advice: drive it you will love it!Driving everything all week! My husband traded my Honda Pilot on a Titan for him and I had to look. I probably drove 10 SUV/cars and I came to the MPV and loved it kinda of van & kinda SUV. Its great my husband even got the sun roof and DVD player on the MPV great for trips! Ed Howard was a great dealershipto work with!!! If your in Sarasota/Bradenton FL check them out!
Cons: the car sales man
Advice: Buy from a dealer that wants to sell!Boy, I wish I could own this baby after test driving it!! The Mazda dealer here on Kauai, Hi just don't want my $20,000 cash.. So I have to find a dealer on Oahu who will gladly take my money..And they ask everyone to keep monies on the island??##
