    2006 Mazda MAZDA5 - Touring (M5)

Pros: Seating for 6 for under $18000 in the base model!

Cons: Not much cargo space when all 6 seats are occupied

    Advice: Definitely test-drive this vehicle

The Mazda5 is a great mix of fun-to-drive and practical functionality. The 6 seats are great, with 4 comfy captains chairs and a smaller 2-seater bench in the back that's comfortable for children or adults under ~5'10'. The back 4 seats fold down to make a huge flat storage space if you're not carrying extra passengers. I test drove the Mazda5 and Mazda3 on the same day, and both test drives felt very similar to me. I honestly could hardly notice the difference in acceleration and handling, even though I know the Mazda3 is smaller and accelerates more quickly than the Mazda5. There's nothing wrong with the positioning of the gas and brake peddles: they felt very similar to the peddles in my 2002 Honda Civic, so I had no trouble whatsoever driving the Mazda5. If you're considering this vehicle, I strongly urge you to go for a test drive!

    2006 Mazda MAZDA5 - Touring (M5)

Pros: Styling and the six seats.

Cons: Cheap front bumper/grill, brake and gas pedal too close together.

Advice: Perhaps wait for the next generation of this model.

Positives: Nice looking styling. Second row of seating slide. Pricing is good. Negatives: Tight space between gas pedal and brake. Rear window sides are blind spots. Cheap looking interior upholstery. Front bumper grill looks flimsy.

    2006 Mazda MAZDA5 - Touring (M5)

Pros: Mazda quality at lower price for a beautiful, utilitarian mini van.

Cons: Waiting to drive 5-speed standard transmission...only a 4-speed auto trans. here.

Advice: Buy one right away, it is a GREAT vehicle...esp. for the price.

I drove the 4-speed auto Touring model...wish it were at least a 5-speed auto. Transmission was smooth, quiet and responsive. Acceleration not quite as good as in Mazda 3 due to 500 lbs. additional weight in Mazda5. Excellent navigation system, stereo, ergonomics. Wish all rear seats folded into floor for more cargo space, but all seats were quite comfy. Handling was impressive, little side sway in curves. Vehicle was quite confidence inspiring up to the 90 mph it was driven for a few seconds passing a gravel truck on freeway...even at that speed interior was quiet, easily understood passenger's comments. GREAT VEHICLE.

    2006 Mazda MAZDA5 - Touring (M5)

    Pros: Nevigation

Cons: Manual sliding door, No leather & auto seats

Advice: Not much room between Gas paddle & Brake paddle

There is not much room between Gas paddle & Brake paddle. Leg gets stuck when you change your leg from gas to brake. Did anybody observed this?
