    2002 Maserati Coupe - Cambiocorsa

    Pros: The engine

    Cons: The entertainment system

Advice: Not for the lazy! Real Drivers Wanted

The Maserati Coupe is a unique car. It prowls along at low speeds the powerful V8 sending tremors through the car while the tailpipes emit the most fantastic deep throbbing exhaust note you could imagine. Then when you open up the throttle that Ferrari V-8 engine roars into life and propels you ferociously down the highway. The car's design is pure with beautiful curves and photographs do not do it justice. On the other side of the ledger this is very much a drivers car designed to be driven along open twisting roads and not designed for leisurely driving or driving in traffic. As such the armrests are not really well positioned nor is the cupholder where provided. The trunk is also small so the car is not great as a grand tourer. In addition the radio, navigation is not top notch. That said if you are looking for a car for the radio, the ability to drink coffee while driving and the ability to sit in traffic you are probably not a Maserati driver anyway. On the other hand if you want a car that's got an amazing engine, hugs close to every contour in the road and requires you to drive like a man this could be the car for you.

    2004 Maserati Coupe - Cambiocorsa

Pros: The power and the looks other drivers give you!

Cons: Cambiocorsa transmission is quirky and jerky when parking.

Advice: black color is a dust magnet. would get a lighter color next time.

After driving Porsche 911's for 15 years, wanted something different. This car is a gem. Very fast, very smooth on the road. I have put 10,000 miles on mine in 2 years. Only a few minor glitches needing warranty work. Despite other reviews, I have had very few mechanical problems with this car. The dealer has been very helpful on the few occasions I needed something. Not a daily driver however. I'm too paranoid about getting a parking lot dent.

    2004 Maserati Coupe - Cambiocorsa

Pros: ENGINE, F-1 PADDLE, EXTERIOR STYLING

    Cons: AUDIO CONTROL SYSTEM

Advice: GET '04 OR LATER MODELS.

I DROVE THIS 2004 COUPE FOR OVER 3500 KM. INITIAL PROBLEM WAS THE AIR CONDITIONING QUIT AFTER 1000 KM AND FALSE ALARM ON WIND SHIELD WASHER LIQUID LEVEL. BOTH WERE FIXED UNDER WARRENTY. NO OTHER PROBLEMS EVER SINCE. LOVE THIS CAR. F-1 PADDLE TAKES SOME TIME TO GET USED TO, ONCE YOU MASTERED IT, UP-SHFTING CAN BE QUITE SMOOTH. STOPPED AND ADMIRED ALMOST EVERY TIME DRIVING IT. USED IT DAILY AND ITS A PERFACT GT CAR THAT CAN SIT 4 PEOPLE. ITS A KEEPER. MAY BE THE '04 MODEL HAVE IMPROVED OVER THE '02 ?

    2002 Maserati Coupe - Cambiocorsa

Pros: The engine, the rest of the car pales in comparison

Cons: The awkward ergonomics, and the build quality.

Advice: Not a daily driver, and the manual transmission is preferrable to the Cambiocorsa

Was seeking a step up from a Jaguar XJR (a fabulous car). However, the Maserati is simply not good as a daily car. Many quirks. The engineering is stellar when it comes to the engine, but the engineering is seriously lacking in the simple things that make a vehicle pleasant and desireable to live with. In addition, the car spent huge amounts of time in the dealers service department. Many parts were replaced, under warranty, however, not a good experience. I traded, at significant financial loss, for a vehicle that is, although not as exotic, far more highly developed and a joy to use, every time I drive; a Porsche 911.

    2003 Maserati Coupe - Cambiocorsa

    Pros: Looks

    Cons: Radio

    Advice: Price is negotiable

I have now had this car for 4 weeks. Interesting drive to say the least. The ride is smooth, cornering is nice, and the car 'feels' heavy. It does weigh substantially more than the 911 Porsche (my previous car). Shifting is accomplished using paddle shifters which I would rate good-not great. It appears to have a hard time shifting upward and can lag when it automatically downshifts from 2nd to 1st. Downshifting using the paddle shifter is excellent. The brakes squeak a little and the radio is worthless since they did not even put an antenna on the car. Speakers are fair. Overall a beauty to look at and a real head turner. Lots of fun. Remember it is Italian and it will have its quirks but it is much better now that Ferrari has taken over.
