Advice: Don't buy it!I bought the 05 ES330 in 11/04. The trasmission is so rough and potentially dangerous, like many other owners reported. The dealer says it's normal. Then how could Lexus claim it is smooth on it's website? Also, there are rattlings on a door, overhead, steering column and front passenger seat. The dealer has not been able to fix them after many times of repair.I am so disappointed with the Lexus brand. I want to get rid of the car soon, even at a substantial loss. So don't buy it until at least Lexus fixes the transmission!

Advice: Buy; there is a fix for the 'jerkiness'. Read on..........To all of you complaining of the jerky transmission; it's normal at first. I too questioned the acceleration (the car I drove had two inches of gas pedal travel until it drove) until I realized it's drive by wire. Similar to a jet fighters controls, there is no mechanical connection for the gas, but an electronic one. It takes about 90 minutes of ONE person driving it(city and highway) for the computer to set your preferences. As soon as that's done, it'll go away. So just load in some fav CD's and drive around for a while til it's done. How hard is that?

Advice: Do not buy this vehicle if the hesitation issue I reference is of concernMajor hesitation issues! The hesitation is danderous and can cause a major accident when attempting to merge from an interstate exit ramp. Although the car looks beautiful on the inside, I finally got Lexus to buy me out of my lease after 18 months of conversations. The settlement (before the arbitration hearing) was worth it. The navigation is nice, but does not have a voice recognition funtion like the Acura TL. In terms of performance, the Acura TL exceeds the Lexus ES330. I should have selected the TL the first time around.

Advice: BUY!!!!!!!!!!I RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2004 ES 330 WITH 18000 MILES ON IT ALL I CAN SAY IS WOW THIS IS THE FINEST VEHICLE I HAVE EVER OWNED AND I HAVE OWNED ALOT OF THEM.QUALITY IS EVERYWHERE YOU LOOK AND THE RIDE IS OUT OF THIS WORLD.I KNOW I WILL ENJOY THIS CAR FOR A LONG TIME.THANK YOU TOYOTA YOU REALLY HAVE A WINNER ON YOUR HANDS. Advice: Test drive it at all speeds.Bought my car with 10 miles on it. Initially, it felt sluggish. But it gets smoother by the day as the miles pile up. My previous car was a Camry that rode exceptionally smooth for a car with 155,000 miles. I'm confident this car will exceed that. I have about 1,200 miles now and the mileage is getting better as well. I enjoy the heated seats, the HID headlights and cargo net. I have the Michelin tires after switching from the summer Toyo tires, which would have lasted about 20,000 miles or less. They are a bit nosier but not by much. I also have the 17 inch tires for slightly better handling, which can also add a bit of noise. I'm very picky. But I'm loving my car. The transmission shifts smoothly and it's so quiet. Sometimes I accidentially hit the turning signal and don't realize it's on. Even the bland exterior is growing on me.

Advice: Test drive at low start-up speeds...'roll through' a Stop signI am now an owner of an ES 330 and have already put on 8000 miles in three months. Although the car is excellent in many respects, it's transmission is 'sub-par' compared with an Infinity and Accura I have previously owned. The problem arises at low 'rolling' speeds, around 1-5 mph when the transmission is shifting from 1st to 2d. At this moment, the engine 'lurches' rather than shifting smoothly.This produces a 'jerking' effect which I can not correct unless I fully stop. My dealer has not been able to correct it. Advice: Do not buy this car until Lexus fixes the engine hesitation problem..The ES ride is soft and the interior is nice. Handling, however, is below average with too much body roll in turns. The transmission often shifts roughly. The much talked about engine hesitation problem when accelerating is frustrating at best and can sometimes be downright dangerous. It is a known problem with Lexus and cannot be fixed. It occurs on 2003 and newer ES models and is computer related (some cars are worse than others and the problem gets worse over time). I had to get rid of the Lexus after 3,500 miles at a substantial loss in value. The Acura TL, while maybe not as nicely appointed, blows this car away in the way it drives and handles. More horsepower, much less roll, no engine hesitation and the transmission shifts much more smoothly. All in all, I should have gone with the Acura.
