Pros: Power doors and hatch
Cons: City mileage
Advice: If your main driving is anything except highway then avoid this vehicle.I purchased a KIA Sedona EX in early September 2006. I am pleased with most features and the ride. It is really a good value in those terms. But, I am appalled at the city mileage. I get a MEAGER 7 MPG CITY. That's no misprint. A KIA representative went for a fuel consumption test ride with me and confirmed the mileage. He did not have any criticisms about my driving habits that could cause the poor mileage and the driving conditions were all favorable. Since then, KIA has washed its hands of the matter and has told me that gas mileage is not guaranteed and that they will not do anything for me to correct the problem.
Pros: stow and go seating
Advice: great van for the $ plus the warranty can't be beat.Wife liked all the features. Smooth acceleration.
Cons: don't stand by the warrenty
Advice: stay away from KiaTiming belt went out after only 20 months causing major damage and now they won't repair it because the garage that did the last 2 oil changes didn't write the VIN or milage down.
Pros: its unique style
Advice: go ahead i have one already and it is the best thing that could ever happend to meThis is the best mini van....wait this is better than most if not all suv's i dont know why its called a mini van
Pros: Power seat controls mounted on the doors.
Cons: The front eat armrests. The rachet and move to easily.
Advice: Test drive it after you have driven the others. You'll be sold on ti.This van has it all. Style, comfort, warranty, & price. It was equal or better than all it's competitors. Except in price, which was thousands less. We've had it for a short time and just love it. Great family van.
Cons: fuel consumption
Advice: Don't be turned off by the name KIA. Give this company 2 to 3 more years and they will blow every one else into the weeds.I read all of the early auto writer reviews and road tests (January 06) and tested a loaded EX in late January when it was about -20 c. Found the van performed very well, had a great heating system, was very quiet, performance and ride and handling where superior to my 02 Olds Silouette Premier. Knew about the windshield noise problem but did not find it as bad as every one says it is. There were no sqeaks and rattles like the Olds, the transmission shifted far better than the GM 4 speed and engine performance was far superior to the 3.4 liter V6 GM corporate engine. We drive to the lake every weekend in the summer (135 miles each way) and never feel uncomfortable or tired. Since taking delivery in March 06 we have over 21000 km's and the van still feels as tight and secure as the day we took delivery. We have had excellent service from our dealer and zero problems other that a recent recall notice to relocate some wiring with the adjustable pedal option. In our opinion why pay $10 grand more for a Honda Odyssey Touring edition. Save your money!
Cons: lack of real warranty
Advice: don't buy a KIAMy 2003 KIA Sorento engine was destroyed when it overheated and warped the heads. The idiot lights did not come on. The cause eventually was found to be the coolent bottle which was cracked on the bottom and leaked under pressure. KIA did not stand by their warranty. They said the timing belt was non KIA and therefore voided the warranty even though the timing belt did not cause the problem.
