Pros: over-all driving experience
Cons: the mileage could be better
Advice: do yourself a favor...drive oneWhat can I say..Kia makes really good vehicles. They're affordable and so far very dependable. Solid feel throughout, great ride, attention to detail shows in all areas, 4-cyl has lots of power, fit and finish ranks with Toyota and Honda. 24/34 gas mileage is ok, could be better and probably will be in models to come. The Optima is fun to drive and responds like a family sport sedan. Sound system is top of the line (Infinity). You cannot beat the warranty! Don't be 'snobbed' into buying less affordable 'cookie cutter' cars. Kia shines!
Pros: It looks nice for a Korean car.
Cons: The doors are flimsy and there is definately a gas mileage issue with this car.
Advice: Get more info on the gas mileage. I don't know about anywhere else but in NY it costs $3.40 &up per gal.I have an LX Optima,4 door sedan (4 cylinder) that I bought just last month. The reason I'm writing this is I'm very concerned that the info I was told regarding gas mileage and reality are very different. I was told by the Dealer that highway miles ranged from 30mpg to 34mpg, but the experience I have says more like 23mpg. Does anyone have a similar story?
Pros: ride and interior
Cons: ABS not standard feature
Advice: go with 4cyl and leather packageOutsanding styling, ride, quality, and performance. I purchased EX 4 CYL, leather package, ABS package, and sunroof. Imfinity audio system outstanding with amp and sub woofer. Compared to sonata, accord, camery, altima much better value. No cons to date. purchased based on christian wardlaw artice
Pros: BODY STYLE
Cons: THE TRANMISSION
Advice: KEEP LOOKINGMY 04 KIA IN ALL IS A DECENT CAR. I REALY LIKE THE LOOK.BUT THE TRANMISSION IS SLIPPING ON TAKE OFF NOT EVERYDAY BUT 2 3 TIMES A WEEK. SOMETIMES DANGEROUS AT A YIELD SIGN. IT HAS BEEN TO THE SHOP THEY SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH IT CHANGE THE FLUID SO I DID, BUT DIDN'T FIX IT. SO I GUESS I HAVE TO TAKE IT BACK AGAIN!! ONLY HAS 30000 MILES ON IT KEEP LOOKING
Pros: There is none.
Cons: There are really too many to list. It does not drive or handle well. I've owned 7 cars in my lifetime and this one is the worst. My first being a 1974 Impala in 1989.
Advice: Don't buy a Kia... Go with a Honda cause you can't go wrong there. Wish I had my purchase to do all over again!I HATE my Kia Optima. What a LEMON! I bought the 2005 with 20,000 miles on it and have had nothing but problems with it from the get go. The door lock on the passenger side didn't work... missing a clip and something else needed adjusted. Check engine light coming on... had to special order a part so I get to drive over 90 for a THIRD time to get that part replaced! Stations wouldn't come in on radio...Antenna messed up. The break was messed up so it was very hard to put into gear. Speaker in the drivers side door cracked when the door was opened. Overall, I truly believe my Optima should be classified as a LEMON. I would NOT recommend one, nor could you run fast enough to give me the keys to another Kia.
Pros: you feel like your in a luxuary car..even in the backseat! The warrenty!!
Cons: not used to the V6 for gasmilage. gets about the same as my suzuki vitara.
Advice: spend the extra money and go for the exv6...I LOVE IT!!I just bought my 1st NEW car..and i'm happy with my kia. i never even thought about buying one. and here i am a very happy owner. the day i bought my car i drove it from pa to s.c. got a good feel for the car handled awsome on the beltways of baltimore,dc and richmond. and the dealership has done alot to help me. i got a flat tire at 500miles due to road damage. and the warrenty covered it all!! i have owned a suzuki vitare(2000) adn a 2003 honda civic. i like this one the best. i also have a 2001 vw jetta..i am always torn between which car to take.
Pros: The easy manual transmission.
Cons: The resale value.
Advice: Put as much down as you can because I lost about $5I loved this vehicle from the start. After having driven it for a while now (1.5 years) it does have two issues that are a problem...the get-up on wet roads and the resale value. It's as if it is not heavy enough in the front to create enough traction to take off on a wet road without spinning out for a second. Other than that...I love it! The handling is great, the standard features are fantastic, the look is classy but not overdone. It's a great car.
