Getting firsthand information from an actual car owner is one sure way to get an idea of car performance once it leaves the lot. Autobytel features real consumer reviews that give the unbiased experience of a car.
Pros: That the side windows roll down! Everyone ohhs and ahhs over that! All the airbags! Deep trunk! 2 glovecompartments.
Cons: No plug in for i pod. That i didn't 'upgrade' and get sunroof, TEMPERATURE reading!, automatic door opener/closure, the extras!Seats are uncomfortbale, learn that the hard way driving to FL, had to get different tires, the tires that came with it were NOT for snow! Antilock brakes were on at every stop! All day the antilock braks were on! Now with new tires they have never been 'on'!Had to replace rollers on both sliding van doors, the cruise control will all of a sudden stop and drop-even tho it still claims it is set. Accelerates for no reason, touchy idle/acceleration.
Never buying a kia again
Pros: can't think of anything
Cons: all the service and maintenance problems and constant cost for upkeep and repairsOur van began having problems within a few months of purchase - including a brake issue that the dealer kept insisting was my imagination, until they got the recall notice. Also the power to the side view mirrors broke quickly so we couldn't adjust them from inside the van anymore - which is a safety issue. Then, in the middle of last summer, right after we exceeded our warranty mileage, the a/c died, and it turns out there was a TSA for an electrical & compressor problem, but they wouldn't fix it for less than $1000 because it was beyond the warranty. Then, this spring, something went wrong with the transmission? or catalytic converter? or something - it hesitates and stalls, and when we took it to our technician, he said so many codes came up he wasn't sure what to do, and told us we should take it to a dealer, and that for him to fix it, it would be at least $2,000. We haven't even paid it off yet - and something major like this is going wrong every year? we're gonna get rid of it and get something reliable and fuel efficient - this car has been a lemon - an absolute nightmare - since we got it. and neither kia nor the dealers did anything to earn our respect.
Pros: sunrof and the handling
Cons: the substance that the body is made ofThe driving and performance is great-but the body is like tissue paper, and needs yearly painting if I touch an object.
Pros: power side doors and tailgate
Cons: the bridgestone tires
Advice: Get the EX it is worth itI've driven the sedona for 2500 miles now, It has performed very well. Gas mileage isn't great but neither is the compition. We have the EX and it has about everything on it.With discounts and the market paid 26,900 for a kia and would have paid 40,000 for a honda or toyota. I traded in a 2006 sedona with many miles on it. Not a single problem.
Pros: Interior is beautiful
Cons: Price of adding a DVD player
Advice: Drive it before you buy a Honda or Toyota, which are both way over priced.I love my Sedona. It's comfortable, drives great, just a great car. I would highly recommend it. I don't agree with the bad reviews. This car is excellent. And, for half the price of a Honda. Worth not paying that much to look into buying a Sedona.
Pros: The spaciousness of the interrior
Cons: Everything else!
Advice: Don't do it.Rented one for a vacation trip and loved the vehicle. Came home and bought one without test driving...big mistake! At 40,000 mi we needed to replace: Transmission, brakes, bushing, axel, passenger door handle. NOT A GOOD THING! Middle seats squeak and have since the day we drove it off the lot.
Pros: Power and Transmission
Advice: Drive the vehicle your going to buy and check it out.Purchased in May of 07. Have 10,000 miles on van. Use it in my business as a work van. Owned two Dodge Caravans in past with 3.3 liter motor. The 3.8 liter in this van gives me 55 more hp and 60 lbs of toruqe. Just what it needs. Gas milage for this van is 1 to 2 mpg less than the Caravan, however the engine is bigger. Changing oil is a breeze with the top mounted oil filter. 10 year/100,000 mile warranty on drivetrain a plus that Dodge did not offer at the time plus the short wheelbase is no longer offered on the Caravan. Only problem was a short in antenna of radio.
