    2004 Jaguar X-Type - 2.5 (M5)

    Pros: looks and comfort

    Cons: reliability

    Advice: Don'y buy this car!

I love the way the x-type looks and drives. It handles well and is comfortable. The problems with this car are that the interior parts such as the vanity mirrors, console, and vents are cheaply made. I have also have had major problems with the electrical system. My car has been in the shop with electrical problems for a month straight. No one knows what is wrong with it. My car is a 2004 with 30,500 miles on it. Thank goodness I got an extended warranty to 100,000. Whenever my car gets out of the shop, I plan to buy something else more reliable and that doesn't live in the shop.

    2002 Jaguar X-Type - 3.0L (A5)

Pros: Radio Control on Steering Wheel, Power Window Controls

    Cons: Interior Quality

    Advice: STAY AWAY

When we bought this vehicle 6 months ago I thought I got a GREAT deal. I was wrong. I had problems with it the 2nd day I had it. The AC unit caused the car to overheat and shutdown. The interior quality is VERY poor. Continouisly the vent protectors pop up and the inside handles unscrew by themselves. I expected luxury and got let down. Overall it's a beautiful car but the quality is not what you'd expect from Jaguar.

    2006 Jaguar X-Type - Sedan

Pros: The cat on the hood

Cons: interior comfort and overall quality.

Advice: Don't buy or lease this thing!

I am suing under the lemon law. Need I say anything else? Been to service 6 times in 18 months.

    2002 Jaguar X-Type - 2.5L (M5)

    Pros: EXTERIOR APPEARANCE

    Cons: THE RELIABILTY

    Advice: NEVER BUY THIS CAR

I will never buy another Jag, again. It was the one of the worst decisions that I ever made. I bought the car on the looks and have paid the price for the last 3 1/2 years. The car was towed for overheating at less than one year old, and it was towed for overheating at less than three years old. The remote entry has been repaired 3 times and the doorlocks twice. The sunroof, seat belts and air conditioning has malfunctioned. We had the steel come thru on our tires because the tires were rubbing on the inside (three weeks after its' 30,000 mile check-up). At 40,000 miles the dealer replace a suspension bar, so now there is a vibration in the front end. I was told that the brakes were worn and the tires were out of balance. How strange, it was just in the check-up the week before and none of this was discovered then. The passenger door wouldn't open. The supposedly fixed it only to find that the next time out, it would open again. They fixed the door only to make the remote not work (this was going on for two weeks straight). To top it off, they took the car on an extended test drive to determine the vibration. After 100 miles and 1/2 take of gas (leaving it on the red for me) they said the wheels were out of balance. I think someone at the dealership drove it home because they seemed to be testing the CD player, as well. They left their cd in the player. They could only say 'You gave me permission for a test drive and we're sorry'. Corporate states that there is nothing they can do because the dealership has fixed everything requested. Unfortunately, a car that is 3 years old shouldn't need so many repairs. NEVER BUY A JAG - VERY UNRELIABLE.

    2002 Jaguar X-Type - 2.5L (M5)

Pros: Everything!!! To be specific:the look and the lines

Cons: The back ash tray should of been a vent

Advice: Make sure you buy an extended warranty and buy from Galpin Jaguar

From the very moment I sat in and drove this wonderful car, I said to myself 'there is NO way you can afford this'. Well, I was wrong!!! Not only could I afford to lease it, I'm about to buy my very first car after leasing 5 automobiles!!! There is nothing and I mean NOTHING that compares to this car. The looks are fabulous, the drive is great, and the sound system is out of this world. The dealership has been the best, though. Galpin Jaguar has made me a client FOR LIFE. When serviced, I ALWAYS get a Jaguar loaner, much to the astonishment of my BMW and Audi friends. Oh, not to be conceided, but I always love when someone asks 'what do you drive?' I tell them a Ford. Thay are quite impresses when they get in. Oh...people with trunk problems:Do not slam the trunk!!! Casually CLOSE the trunk. I have not had ONE problem with the trunk, and I've had my Jag. for 3 1/2 years. People: Take good care of your babies.

    2004 Jaguar X-Type - 2.5 (M5)

    Pros: exterior styling

    Cons: reliability

Advice: lease unit - don't buy. Make sure you live near the dealership.

Bought the car based on looks and the pricing. Luckily leased unit instead of purchased. Its been in the shop for numerous electrical issues as well as - rear differential leak, exterior trim falling off, keyless entry not working (3x), O2 sensor failed. The handling and drive is pretty good. The clutch reminds me of a 1973 Volkswagen Super Beatle that I had in high school - pretty wimpy and not very smooth ... but sort of fun to drive. Lots of leg room in the front seats. Not a bad value if you take the break downs in stride. The dealer does provide a loaner vehicle while yours is in the shop to ease the pain.

    2004 Jaguar X-Type - 2.5 (M5)

    Pros: Spacious, luxurious, QUIET, interior.

    Cons: N/A

Advice: Be patient with the manual shifting. Perfect smoothness obtainable with practice.

I've had my x-type since November last and feel like I've died and gone to heaven. I'm exhilarated each morning when I pull away slowly, wondering where the power is coming from because the engine is so smooth and quiet - and this is only the 2.5! I sympathize with those who've experienced problems and understand their frustration. When the marque is a legend like Jaguar then the disappointment is more acute because exectations are higher. Unfortunately, it's a rare brand that is free from problems for long, witness a certain legendary and, comparatively, more costly Continental European marque suffering breakdowns more frequently than any other in my experience.
