Pros: Jamming 6 CD in-dash CD Player
Cons: Really stiff lumbar support in power adjustable seat. Can't seem to adjust it to 'perfect' comfort.
Advice: Get the automatic tranny, makes 4WD driving much easier.Rides really well for it's weight. I take it on the beach in the Outer Banks regularly and have never gotten stuck. Even pulled other folks out of the soft sand a couple of times. Runs great, smooth ride on the highway and really quiet compared to the 2001 Rodeo Sport the wife drives. Seems to have good fit and finish. I definately think it's a bargain at the price.
Pros: Overall interior room
Cons: Lack of quick acceleration
Advice: Make sure your dealer lets you REALLY test drive it.So far, I am still getting used to the size vs. my 1997 Maxima. But my initial impressions (I have owned it for about 3 days) are great. Extremely comfortable, roomy, great looking. I still need to get used to the power, or the lack thereof compared to my less heavy Max (I already miss that car), but I think I am going to really enjoy my new Rodeo. Especially at the price I got it for (just a hair over $20K)
Pros: DASH COMPUTER
Cons: LEG ROOM IN THE FRONT
Advice: NO FOG LIGHT ON MODELS WITHOUT LEATHERI SEEM TO DRIVE FASTER IN THIS SUV. SITS A LITTLE LOWER THEN MY EXPLORER SPORT AND NOT AS MUCH LEG ROOM LOTS OF OPTIONS BETTER TO GET IN AND OUT OF.
Pros: Exterior styling and interior finish
Cons: Ultra-stiff rear suspension
Advice: Check all dealers in a wide radius for the best price and availabilityI picked up the car in March after months of test drives. This car was not even on the radar screen as I drove other SUV's. It wasn't even featured at the local autoshow. We came upon the car as we test drove the Hyundai Santa Fe at a local dealership. The Axiom has a lot going for it. The exterior design is a showstopper. Everyone notices the car but nobody knows what it is. You have to get used to stares and questions if you own one. The interior is comfortable and well built with excellent head and leg room, even in the rear seats. The drivers seat could benefit from the addition of a height adjustment feature. The cargo area is smaller than my old Cherokee but this is not a problem. I was looking for a little more interior refinement and the Axiom fits the bill. The engine has been flawless through 3500 miles. The only area that needs improvement is the rear suspension. It tends to be too stiff on small bumbs like speed bumps, driveway approaches and drainage ways. At times it is like riding on an old 'buckboard' wagon. The highway ride is great and the mileage is better than the jeep with an average of 17 mpg around town. A pure highway trip averages 23 miles per gallon. On one trip to the ski area we plowed through 10' of fresh, untracked snow. The Axiom started and stopped true to course in the 'Winter' drive mode. There was no hesitation or slippage. The traction control and antilock brakes work great. The car will start on pure ice from a dead stop with no side to side slippage. the ground clearance is reasonable but requires a little more care off-road than the Jeep. The price was right with more standard features compared to other SUV's. We ended up ordering the XS model with all the options that could be added. The 10 year powertrain coverage can't be beat and 0% financing made the sale. The only areas for improvement would be the rear suspension, seat height adjustment and perhaps an actual GPS readout for the console info system.
Cons: 4 cylinder engine
Advice: Get the 6 cylinder engineThe Sport has a nice ride and appearance. The only problem is the 4 cylinder engine. Even with the manual transmission, performance is sluggish.
Pros: Easy translate from 2WD to 4WD, and the space
Cons: the spare tire at the door
Advice: Take a test drive and enjoy!!!!I have used the Trooper on road and off-road and it perform asa I was expecting, I feel secure and confident that the Trooper will not let me down.
Pros: It doesn't look like everyone elses 'explorer'!
Cons: Drivers leg room. A little bouncier than other SUV's over speed bumps, but I think that could be corrected with 4 new shocks less that $200.
Advice: BARGIN! BARGIN! BARGIN! They want to sell you a vehicle!I just picked mine up yesterday. It's got an awsome look and presence to it. The interior is laid out nicely, but it is confusing at first working the sterio and A/C. There are so many nice features even on the basic model including the 6 disc CD changer and what a warranty. 10 year 120K mile power train... The back seat has lots of leg room for taller passengers, but you'll only fit two average sized adults. The drivers seat is kind of tight though for my 6'1' frame. I could use 2 more inches of leg room and it would be perfect. Maybe I can modify it. The 0% interest is a great deal. What a good time to buy. The dealers are hurting so they will make you a sweet heart deal. They paid off my trade in which I was probably $5,000 under on.
