Advice: consider a DurangoGot this as a company car about six months ago. So far it has been in the shop once, for a failed sunroof mechanism that is still not right. Overall, I have to say that the ergonomics as well as the fit and finish of the interior is of lesser quality than my old 1998 model. The interior, in general, feels like it went through a downgrade. Get in an Explorer, then get in an Escape. All the same switches and controls. Seats are less comfortable too. That being said, the Explorer is still a great warrior for the urban jungle. Great visibility, good turning radius, and tons of space. I love the new suspension, the engine and tranny (although the shift points take some time to get used to), and the new bodywork.

Advice: MAKE SURE YOU GET ALL OF THE REBATES AND INCENTIVES THAT FORD IS OFFERINGAS SOON AS I DROVE THE TRUCK FOR THE FIRST TIME, I KNEW I HAD TO HAVE IT! THE ONLY DRAWBACK IS THAT THE TRUCK IS DRIVEN BY WIFE EVERY DAY- I ONLY GET TO DRIVE IT ON WEEKENDS! I LOVE THE SMOOTH AND QUICK ACCELERATION AND 'CADDY LIKE RIDE' OF THE NEW SUSPENSION!

Advice: If your looking for low cost SUV, look at Explorer XLS modelLooked at numerous year end SUV offers. 2002 Ford Explorer 4x4 was by far the best choice. Awesome new styling. Quiet ride. Great room compared to other vehcles (Santa FE, Escape, CRV, etc.) in this price range ($24,500). Great Ford financing! 4.9 60 months, 3.9 36 months, 3.9 24 months....

Advice: Dodge the Dodge! Don't buy it!Initially, the truck was great. It's a mid-sized truck which means it's a narrow version of a full-sized truck. This is good in city conditions. Power is great, which was also a deciding factor. The rear differential had to be rebuilt (under warranty) at about 8,000 miles. The transferred case had to be rebuilt (not under warranty) at about 36,000 miles. The transmission gave out at 53,000. One might think that the drive train fell apart under abuse, but I've had GM vehicles go 200,000 to 300,000 miles with only expected maintenance. Unfortunately, Dodge has all the modern quality assurance practices of 1935. I will never again buy another Chrysler product!

Advice: I think its an excellent choiceAcceleration from an on ramp to highway speeds somewhat sluggish with the air conditioner turned on. The back window rattles on bumpy roads. This model does not have cross bars for the roof rack. Overall, I'm pleased with appearance,roomy interior space and driveability. Extraordinarily stable in most all driving conditions...side winds, 18 wheelers passing, roundabouts, quick turns. An improved and pleasant driving experience from the older model Explorers.
