Cons: Engine cutting out
Advice: Run !!!!We bought the car with 30,000 miles on it in February of 2005. We have it had it 4 months and been in shop 3 times. The engine cuts out and the dealership can not tell us why, because the engine light doesn't come on. I do not recommend this car to anyone. This is second dodge we have owned and have had problems with both.I will never buy another Dodge vechicle. If anyone knows what makes the car cut out, please e-mail me @ email@example.com.
Pros: Confort and quiet ride at highway speeds.
Cons: Manual mirrors. Had electric ones in Breeze
Advice: Test drive 4 cylinder first-Get extended warrenty for peace of mind.I bought this car from a dealer with 14,000 miles on it. I traded in a 99 Breeze which had 95,000 on it-great car. Did not spend a red cent for repairs! Just regular oil changes. The 4 cylinder engine is noiser than I like than the one( 4 cylinder) in my Breeze and I will consider the 6 cylinder in the future. Otherwise, the engine had plently of power. Minor problems early on but all was covered under 36,000 mile warrenty. I now have 47,000 miles and no complaints. Gets good MPG: 20-22 city and 28-33 highway. Just added 4 Goodyear assurance tires. Improved ride, handling and quieter than factory tires(Goodyear Eagle) I also bought extended warrenty-100,000 miles-major componets for extra peace of mind. Has alot of benefits.
Pros: Remote Start, Sirius Radio
Cons: Performance during rain & wet roads.
Advice: Would not recommend this vehicle. Do your research.Loved the vehicle at first. Then after 10K miles noticed all problems. Transmission slips. Don't attempt to go up a hill in the rain. Transmission will jerk, jump, and front tires feel like they accelerate at different speeds, causing shift. Not good in rain. Sent to two separate dealers. Neither can diagnose problem. Instrument panel light burned out after 30K. Driver seat not designed for a large person and long drives.
Cons: the light switch position
Advice: Consider it when looking at any midsize 4 doorBought this car with 11,000 miles in November 2004, paid only $10,500. Well equipped with keyless entry, power seats, V6, CD, AC, wish it had the alloy wheels. Very tight responsive car, the 200hp V6 gives it plenty of pickup for passing. The interior does feel somewhat cheap but is reasonably comfortable, no wind noise at highway speeds (actually at 100 mph still quiet). Only wish I had researched the 2.7 engine a little more, apparently it has some reliability problems that can be taken care of by using synthetic oil, but it jacks up the price of each oil change.
Pros: Sporty Look
Cons: front cup holders... can't place larger cups in it! but i guess that is what the back ones are for
Advice: Test drive! you'll fall in love!!This is my 2nd Stratus! I love the way the car handles, and feels! I totaled out my other stratus and wanted a car that held up just as good so i got another one!! I got the SE with the 4-cylinder but it has just as much power as my 1997 v6 did!!
Pros: the body style
Cons: NO power,no passing power, and the 6 cylinder drives worse than the 4 cylinder.
Advice: Do not buy this car. you will be very unhappy with it!I bought a 2004 stratus and since 3 days after I bought it (I have only owned it for 4 months!) I have had it in the shop 16 times for the same reason. The car will shut off while waiting at drive thrus and at stop and go lights. It also looses all power when it shifts into 3rd gear! Dodge dealers can't tell me whats wrong with it. They have no clue. I have troubles with most cars I buy but this by far has been the worst one. The car only has 16,000 miles on it.I would not recomend this car to anyone!! I have already raplaced the breaks and rotors also. This car sucks!I will trade it in very soon! Do not buy without the extended warrenty!
Cons: the 2.4 cyl. engine
Advice: purchase a better engineI purchased my stratus sxt in november of 2003 and i am comletely dissatisfied, with the engine and the fact that my power control module has went bad. The car cut off when I was on the highway in the middle of rush hour traffic. I wish I would had taken more time to choose my features like a better engine that the 2.4 4 cyl. I would shop around for other midsize cars before purchasing this one.
