Pros: Of course the 500 HP Viper engine!
Cons: Big time gas hog but hey, play you pay!
Advice: Have a second vehicle handy as this is sure to become a classic someday.I bought a 2006 QC SRT-10 (black) but did test drive a 2005 model awhile back. Very impressed with this truck. Traded in an '03 Hemi QC. Was most dismayed about the infamous 'tick' which seemed to not be going away and getting louder. Dropping valves and engines blowing up even as the owners say they used high quality synthetic oils and babied them otherwise. Reading reports in the larger forums about these engines questionable long term durability issues, even the constant check engine light. Yup, me too. Anyway the power of this beast is absolutely outstanding. Also own an '02 Corvette Z06 but for a truck this thing is just awesome. Have more than my fair share of track days under my belt so I'm gonna give you the unvarnished truth. If you purchase this truck beware of gas mileage. Tank in the QC version holds 34 gallons. With gas someday to approach 4 or even 5 dollars a gallon, this ain't no economy car. It is an automotive enthusiasts machine and will suck your gas budget dry and then some. Some people say they use it as a daily driver, but for me it is strictly a pleasure craft. In my line of work I use my '01 Ford Focus Wagon SE with the 2.0L Zetec engine. The ride in the SRT-10 is a little choppy (something to be expected in a sporty truck like this) and the hydroformed frame is a major step up from the '03 Hemi. Noticably stiffer and inspires confidence on the road and in the corners. The Bilstein shocks are also instrumental in keeping the suspension planted and under control. I love the new headlamps and are a major improvement from the scalloped ones.
Cons: My rear door does not line up. poor quality paint job.
Advice: get the nice wheels, not chrome clad, spend the extra $800 get the HemiVery comfortable. this truck is fast if you want to go fast, slow if you want to go slow. Too much body sway in turns(easily corrected). For 800 dollars more you get the hemi, why not, whats another 800 dollars. This truck is a lot of bang for the buck. My truck Cost less than my mini van.
Pros: The HEMI
Cons: gas milage
Advice: check out the DODGE HEMI and dont look backI had the original HEMI in my 1970 Super Bee and loved it. Now 34 years later I bought the Ram 1500 with the new HEMI and am very pleased. It was nothing like the original HEMI I had, but let me tell you that this truck has power. The thrills that you get from acceleration and the torque, far outweigh the gas it uses. If you are looking for the best looking very powerful vehicle, dont hesitate to test drive this one.I have been a FORD man since 1983 and that relationship is over. DODGE has it all over the competition.
Cons: Bad fuel mileage
Advice: Definitely get the HEMI...Got my first truck in this Ram. I could not be more pleased. Not only is it the BEST looking truck on the market, but it outperforms all the rest also. I added nerd bars, duals with flowmaster exhaust and backfitted a K&N filter system. My only disappointment: gas mileage. BUT, I increased this about 1.5-2.0 MPH with the exhaust system and air filter.
Pros: Nice truck
Cons: Customer service
Advice: Don't buy anything form Dodge/ChryslerI am writing this letter to inform you of the terrible customer service your company is providing. I bought a new 2002 Dodge Ram 4x4 last January. It currently is less than two years old and has less than 23,000 miles. The truck has had three safety recalls and a steering gear is having to be replaced. Yet none of those problems are what I am upset about. What is upsetting is that I am being forced to pay for a rental car while all this is repaired. I know in your basic warranty that it says rental service is not covered. However I think certain exceptions should be made. For one, the recall issues should be completely your company's responsibility and you should do everything possible to make it as pleasant as possible to have them repaired. That does not mean offerring a ride to my house while it is being fixed. I work and go to school and a vehicle is important for me to get to both. The second issue is that I am now being forced to pay for a rental car while the replacement steering gear is shipped. I was told it would take 4-5 days to get here. The least you could do is have the part overnighted. I will admit that the dealership said I could take my truck but I would have to sign a waiver that if the problem became worse Dodge would not pay for any of the repair. They say that word of mouth is the best form of advertising and I am letting you know that this letter is being posted to every consumer review board I can find on the internet and I am also forwarding it to every contact I have in my address book and asking them to do the same. Hopefully this will at least get you to look at your warranty policy and rethink some of the terms. Sincerely, Billy Spencer
Pros: 20 inch wheels
Cons: the recalls 2 of them
Advice: get the HEMIgot the 4.7 but wished I had the hemi spend the 750.00 more and get it
Cons: no head rests for rear passengers.
Advice: the HEMI is worth the extra cost.I loved the power of the 5.7 HEMI, and the leather interior is comfy, but sporty. I loved the location of thecontrols, and the handles on the doors. The only thing I see is that the seats are a little bit smaller than the 97 I had.
