Pros: Having a four door truck
Cons: Regret not getting a 4x4
Advice: Its a great dealGo with the V-8 if your going to be towing all the time, the V-6 can do it, its just not as easy. Good truck for the price. A great deal.
Pros: Power baby....Passing Power!!
Cons: overly powerful new car smell
Advice: Try an American truck before you buy a import!Overall a great truck. I had a 93' dakota for the last 7 yrs and it never let me down so I decided to try a new one. I was not disapointed. This thing is great! my 93 has a 3.9 V6 and never got more than 12 miles to a gallon.. the 05' is getting around 15 city and 19 highway and its a 4.7 V8! I heard they get better with breakin too. Not too bad for a truck of this capacity!
Pros: Higher stance looks real good.
Cons: Brakes are terrible. Shudder like crazy.Dealer hasn't fixed them yet. Only 4000 mi. on it.
Advice: Test V6 then test V8 model. If you pull trailers buy the V8.The 3.7L V6 210Hp moves our truck quite well on the highway. Corners real nicely. A stout little truck in comparison to our old Dakota and what our trade in was (2003 Chev S-10 ext cab). The bigger bolt pattern on the truck makes it easier to find aftermarket mag wheels. Cup holder is in a bad location, practically under the dash!!
Cons: Gas Mileage - I know V-8 and complaing about fuel economy....
Advice: Overall a great truck.Good power for the 2003 model line-ups. More power then a Tacoma, Frontier. Gas mileage not the best but what do you expect from a V-8 truck. Great value for the price (options).
Pros: How does 5.9L w/ a MagnFlow exhaust system sound to ya? Yeah I thought you might like that...I sure do.
Cons: Seat width and height.
Advice: Spend the extra $$$ get the Sport Plus and a rear sliding window. There is only one issue I have w/ this truck. The front seat width. When the arm rest is down between the front driver/passenger the driver loses significant leg spread. Keep in mind, I'm 6'4' and 210lbs. There are two ways to fix this. 1) ride w/ the arm rest up, 2) Purchase the 1500. If all I can find at issue w/ this truck is the seat width so I can drive all spread eagle w/ the cruise control on...than this truck ROCKS.
Pros: It's the only V-8 in the mid-size class.
Cons: Plastic skid plate
Advice: get the 4.7 V-8, It'll tow (for a 'mid-size')It's not really a mid size compared to all the others in it's category. It has more room and more power than Toyota, Chevy, Nissan, and Ford. I have 50,000 miles on it so far, and I haven't a complaint.
Cons: Storage / Appearance
Advice: Get the bucket seatsOverall a good midsize truck. The ride and handling are a definite upgrade over the last body style. The appearance leaves a little to be desired. Would prefer the 4x4 look different than the 4x2. Two biggest complaints: Front and rear under storage is terrible. Couldn't they copy the same ideas from the Ram and Sto-n-Go Caravan? Cupholders are useless. If they just had moved the console back 2-3 inches it would have solved all the problems.
