    2005 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 - LS 4x2 Extended Cab 6.5' Box

    Pros: front bucket seats

    Cons: the quality

Advice: if you don't like XM or Onstar do not get the feature.

I bought my 2005 Silverado in Feb. 2005, so far I've had a couple of problems with it... The first problem was a leak in the ac compressor, which was covered by the warranty, by the way all of these problems were covered. I also had a problem with the rear window seals they actually replaced both rear windows to fix the leak. Then came the CD player(bose system w/ Onstar & XM). The first time they took the radio out and sent it out for repair. I drove the vehicle without a radio for three days. The second time it happened the dealership ordered a radio (remanufactured) and installed it, it worked when I picked the truck at the dealer but it stopped working shortly after, all the gauges started going crazy all over the place, now they have ordered a new radio.... The last problem is the transmission, they tell me that it has to be reprogrammed because it sometimes starts off in second gear. All of these problems happenned within the first year.

    2005 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 - Base 4x4 Extended Cab 6.5' Box

Pros: Mechanically sound. all the added features that work through the instrument panel

Cons: Truck sits lower than other trucks , especially in the front. Chevy should lift them as high as the 2500 series so they look more robust

Advice: K&N filter, remove m.a.s. screens, different tires a must.

5.3, 310HP motor has plenty of power with a 3.42 rear. I had a slight hesitation when shifting between gears, I put a K&N filter in and remove the massairflow sensor screens and WOW ,what an increase in power, the hesitation went away immediately. The Goodyear tires it came with stink. I went to a Firestone Destination LE tires and they are great, they're quiet and have good traction in rain and snow. The construction af the doors is not as sturdy as my Ford F150 nor the roof, but my F150 got 14mpg, this Chevy averages 18mpg around town, 20mpg on highway, after the K&N was installed. The interior is nice , the instrument panel top notch.I have had no mechanical problems whatsoever through 10000 miles.

    2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 - LS 4x2 Regular Cab 6.5' Box

Pros: the truck is very nice looking

    Cons: gas milage

Advice: make sure that you keep after the dealer or dealers that you deal with on repairs --- they claim ever noise or problem you have with it is normal

chevy is having problems with the automantic transmissions --they claim that a loud noise in the shifting is normal (it wasn't this way when I bought it ) so when asked which way is normal they can't answer you !!!! Also they have an auto light system that comes on and off when it feels like it --again this is normal so I was told !!! Was told if the computer on the truck doesn't code than there isn't anything wrong -So does this mean if I get a flat tire and the computer says I don't --Do I have a flat or not ???

    2006 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 - LT1 4x2 Crew Cab

Pros: Awesome horsepower in the 5.3 litter, yes the Duramax is great but diesel is more than premium

Cons: Location of heater controls behind gear shifter when in drive - didn't get steering wheel radio controls

Advice: Get the iron block engine and get crew cab, so much room inside

Very awesome and powerfull truck. Have driven all other makes of trucks and this is the best so far. I love the look of it, all though I do see why so many critics complain about the lack of build quality. Everybody should stop complaining about all the plastic inside the interior, most cars/trucks have all plastic inside. I think the interior is classic and timeless, not like all these outrageous aluminium accents in countless other makes. The horsepower is like driving an old Camaro with the 5.3, which is 325 cu.i. or 327 cu.i depending on who you talk too. And I highly recommend that if you buy the 5.3, make sure it's the iron block and not the aluminum block. The iron has 20 less horsepower but you can't beat the reliability of iron (snufu Toyota).

    2005 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 - LS 4x2 Crew Cab

Pros: Powerful but fuel efficient engine.

Cons: Radio controls are a bit 'busy'

Advice: Buy it and leave all those Nissan people in your dust!!!

Its like driving a Corvette, but built like an A-1 Abrams tank!. Extremely powerful but gets 20+ MPG Hwy at 75mph!! Best truck so far, I have ever owned. Roomy, quick, powerful, growls like a pickup should. I have owned Fords, Dodges, Chevys, GMC, Suburu, this one is the creme-de-le-creme of them all.
