Excellent vehicle especially in the snow
Pros: Everything and its safeExcellent vehicle safe especially when you have young children. Its good to know that you are safe because this vehicle indicates any problem and its just awesome and spacious. Its like a beast on the highway and i feel like im on top of the world.
Yet another iteration of the legendary Suburban
Pros: Exceeded expectaions in comfort, reliability, maintanance costs, finish and manuverability)
Cons: MPG (average 17, which is good for the size and power, but still hurts)This is my 5th Suburban or Tahoe The 2007 delivers all that was promised. Fit and finish still get comments after 4 years. Aftermarket 22” rims and tires turn heads, but change the ride. Unless perfectly balanced and optimally inflated, you feel a lot more of the road with the 22s. Plenty of room for both my work equipment and my for passengers at the same time. Comfortable as driving a lounge chair. This 2 wheel drive can handle ice with ease while others with 4wd are slipping away. Would love to see my next Suburban take advantage of additional transmission gears (5 or 6 instead of the current 4). This might squeeze more mileage out of the engine and could improve perceived acceleration.
excellent interior space seats 5 very comfortably
Pros: body style
Cons: key FOB alarm/locking clicker needed replacing every yearloved it when I 1st saw it, loved it even after some minor mechanical issues occurred. still lovin it 4yrs later, but I want a newer one,
Black Maxx - Great car! It's what I didn't think
Pros: Driving positions (I am tall) and roadability. It really is an easy car to live with.
Cons: Gas mileage. Awful around town (13-14 mpg); highway (23-26). Got 30 mpg once but I really had to softshoe it. Also, I'd like a 24v engine and a manual trans with at least 5 forward spd and AWD would be nice.Between health and other problems, I got dropped into an uncomfortable position, financially. That improved somewhat when SSI retirement gave me an assist. I had rented Malibu Maxxes when I needed to travel and was quite impressed with their utility. A local Chevy dealer was going belly-up after about 4 or 5 decades. They had this black SS which caught my attention. Long story short, after some discussion, I got it for 25K, 0%down, 0% interest. Been a long time since I had anything close to a new car; and this really wasn't brand new since it was '06 and I got it in '07. The next year ('08) they discontinued Maxx which is really a Saab with Chevy running gear. Car gets terrible mileage around town (big engine?!), but it is a dream to drive. Handles extraordinarily well, terrifically stable, comfortable inside, adaptable to any need. I believe Chev should have done a major blitz on Maxx. They did not. I got 28+ mpg when I rented the regular Maxx (on the highway at 70+ mph).
Most trouble free ever
Cons: Shoulder room (I'm a big guy)Fit & Finish excellent, very practical, reasonably good on gas. A/C will freeze you out (I'm in FL). Compfortable ride. good headroom but a little tight in shoulder room. In 30M miles only problem was a burned out tail light bulb. I hate to see them stop making it. Best vehicle for the money.
Cons: manual windowsGood basic transportation
A good car for the money and very good on gas
Pros: the ride is great. gas milage is way higher than dealer stated. actual milage from Fort Wayne In. to Roswell NM, 36 mpg.
Cons: the brakes and door jam paint. My only complaints are the rear break rotors rusted really fast. I had them replaced 3 times with only 38,000 on it. all the jams look like they were painted by a child! no shine at all, and i can see the primer coat thru the very small amount ov clear. But it sure looks great after I striped SS style.
