Advice: STAY AWAYWe have owned our Uplander for approximately 8 months and it has been a nightmare. Constant problems with the electrical, constant problems with the brakes, rotors entirely replaced once, two more just replaced all in less than 30k, two wheel bearings have been replaced, the transmission sometimes does not engage while in drive the motor revs but vehicle does not move and then all of a sudden it takes off, we have almost hit cars in front of us while waiting at traffic stops, the vehicle rolls backwards while in drive which is really great when you also cannot get the transmission to engage, the wipers would not work unless the tilt wheel was in the up position, noises and rattles galore, the starter will not disengage, supposedly the dealer replaced, yet the 'new' starter does the same thing. The list goes on and on and GM has blown us off completely, we have talked to other owners of Uplanders and similar GM models and found out that many of us share the same problems, We loved the vehicle when we first got it but the problems started soon after and have not stopped. I would not recommend this vehicle to anyone or would I recommend GM products to anyone after what we have gone through. And the icing on the cake is that the vehicle is worth less than half of what we paid for it in 8 months time.
Cons: The location of the lever for the front passenger's seat.
Advice: Buyer beware!!!!Very dissapointed with the 2005 Uplander. In the shop now again for the power sliding door. Molding will have to be replaced for the 2nd time. Also does not start correctly when turning the key, in the shop for that as well. Whether turning right or left makes a noise in the rear. The left passenger manual sliding door is hard to close. And at times have to slam it to shut correctly. Buyers beware, do not buy GM. We also had many problems with a 2003 GMC Envoy that we traded in for the Uplander.
Pros: The sliding doors and all the room inside the van (we have the extended one). and it has a great stereo system

Advice: Make sure it is AWD!!I leased an LT with the works - leather, DVD, everything you could want on a van. I love the stylish look. The bucket seats in the 2nd row are overpowering. The headrests on the seat in the 3rd row are too high and limit your view. My kids love the DVD and the sound is unbelievable. I have had a few electrical problems. A new radio has been installed, the power sliding door has been nothing but problems and now my headlights flicker. I wish it had AWD. I have been stranded many times since this vehicle is not equipped to handle icy conditions. I think it is due to the tires. I wish I could end my lease and lease a vehicle with AWD but it would be too costly at this time.
Pros: The SUV look w/the room of a van and the DVD.
Cons: No OnStar. Don't know why but it was great price so I bought it!
Advice: Test drive for a couple of days.Just bought my 05 Uplander LS Ext. Love it! Great price and options b/c it was a program car. Get the extended model w/the captn chairs for 2nd row and power sliding dual doors. Kids love the DVD although I have noticed a feedback issue w/it. Hope to have fixed soon. This is my first van and I love the room. Uplander is a great buy for the options and looks. I knew this was for me at first sight....don't feel like a 'Van' Mama!

Advice: Do not waste your moneyAwful!! Buying this vehicle was a huge mistake. I think that GM used spare parts to put this thing together. We purchased our Uplander in July of '05 and it's been in the shop ever since. Everything from the starter to the alternator. (its been in 3 times for the alternator, (I am currently in the process of filing papers for a buy back from GM) The DVD has never worked right, the remote for that system has never worked right,interference from the dvd though the radio, light censor for dash only works half the time, the list goes on. Handles horribly, lights flicker and dim continuously. I have owned several Chevy vehicles and NEVER have I been so disappointed. I don't know what we were thinking.
