Pros: The radio
Cons: Ride, comfort, poor visibility
Advice: Don't buy this car if you are tall, or a big personThe insurance company provided a car while my Toyota was in the shop, I ask for a something cheap to operate and they rented me the HHR. I was expecting more from this car. No wonder GM is failing, this thing is poorly designed, uncomfortable, visibility is terrible, I'm 6 foot tall and rather broad shouldered. I feel like I'm crammed in to cracker box. When the sun visor is down I can not see out the wind screen without bending over. I would expect better fuel economy from a car this size, but my 100 mile daily commute is averaging only 28mpg and I'm a conservative driver. My Camry beat it by miles at 34mpg average. There are a few thing I do like, the radio, but it has nothing to do with over all ride and comfort, it lack all the above. I'll be happy when I get my 2002 Camry back.
Pros: The gas mileage
Cons: Interior space. Although very spacious for a small car. I am a big guy.
Advice: Definately worth it. I have had it for 3 years with no problems. Great valueGreat power for a small car. It has been up to 120 a couple of times and handles great with the sport suspension package.
Pros: The subtle overhead LED that lights the stereo and console.
Cons: The shifter knob and no center console box.
Advice: Get the traction controle optionSpunky little wagon! The HHRs look like PT Cruisers on steroids ... full-fledged little Hot Wheels at heart. Other than the slight over-steer torq on hard acceleration, it's a great driving platform with enough zap to really get one moving. The dash is well layed out and nicely lit.
Pros: None really.
Cons: Extremely small front and rear windows with thick columns between front and side windows. Unintuitive controls,
Advice: Forget it. It is a fine car for a shorter person but visibility makes this car a no-winner to me.I rented this car while in Orlando. It was new and had 300 miles on it. I hated it! The biggest problem was visibility. Even with lowering my seat position I had to stop well ahead of the roll line to be able to see the stoplights mounted above the intersections. Side to side was just about as bad. I felt I was sitting in some military pillbox. Rear visibility is just about as bad. The window is minuscule to begin with but the head rests on the two front seats obscured the lower corners. In addition, the Florida temporary paper plate took up another third of the rear window, making backing up a highly dicey maneuver. The first full day I had the car it had a flat. The jack looks like most others except instead of a long handle it has this weird stubby handle attached to the jack itself. I had to call the rental agency to figure out how to disengage this handle from the rest of the jack! (Rental agencies do not leave user manuals in the cars these days, a real risk management issue if a renter gets injured due to not knowing how to do something or other). When I got to a toll booth, I could not figure out how to roll the window down. Only later did I finally realize that the window controls are not located in the logical place (near door handle) but on the central console area! The ride seemed stiff and truck-like to me. I could adjust the seats in pretty much any position but finding out how to simply recline the seat back or putting it in straighter position was elusive.
Pros: rides excellent and cant beat the mileage.
Cons: cup holders and a better console area for glasses etc.
Advice: buy it'''''''you'll love itI would like to have the coffee holders at a more convient place instead of the hard to reach area between the seats.Redesign a better console and beverage holder at the drivers convenience. Otherwise I love my HHR and wouldnt trade it for anything in the world.
Pros: The lines on this car are great. The fold down seats with the hard backs are great for hauling stuff. The smoked rear windows are great for our little one.
Cons: The cloth seats are not the greatest quality. They stain easily - even with water spills.
Advice: Buy it and don't look back - your'e going to love this car.We were going to buy another Ford Focus after our last one broke down, since it was a good car, but we saw a used 2007 HHR in the lot and took a test drive, since it was such a cool looking car. After seeing the mileage that this car got, and seeing the price, there was no question which was the better deal. After owning it for three months, this is the best car we have ever had and we are really glad we decided to buy it. It is a great car. Way to go Chevrolet - finally someone had the vision to build a decent retro styled car for those of us who like the old style cars, but don't have the time, expertise or money to customize an old car.
Advice: Give it a chance.Much better mpg than I expected. I almost passed this vehicle over because I assumed the gas would eat me alive and the price tag would be astronomical. I almost assumed my way out of a great vehicle. Just take a look at them!
