Getting firsthand information from an actual car owner is one sure way to get an idea of car performance once it leaves the lot. Autobytel features real consumer reviews that give the unbiased experience of a car.
Cons: price of tiresBeautiful vehicle, low mileage never been in an accident
Great WOW Factor !
Pros: Handling,power and shifting
Cons: Gas gauge moves faster than the car.I had a 2005 BMW 645 Coupe for 5 years and love the 6 series. Replaced it with the new M6 Competition. This car has a bottomless accelerator. Far too much power for our Canadian highway speeds. Very tempting to fly ! The POWER button can be setup with the desired ride,HP, handling ratios. Then one can always be ready to launch it when needed. Sound system, Navigation system etc are superb. The twin clutch transmission needs getting used to.I use the paddles and the gear shift lever most times.Although it has it's quirks, I still prefer the Automatic to the 7 speed manual. The V10 I hear will disappear next redesign so wanted to have it !!
Pros: driving it at any speed is enjoyable
Cons: the run-flat tiresThe 328 is a great sedan. It's quiet, quick, handles great, it's gorgeous, and is comfortable for long drives. No, it's not as fast as the 335 or the S4, but it's faster and quicker than 99% of drivers will ever need. It's also very reliable and a joy to drive. Suspension is firm but not jarring and the steering is very precise. The cockpit is attractive and the car is well-made, but without the sea of buttons and switches that some manufacturers add. I love my 328.
The V-10 that sings!
Pros: The sound and performance.
Cons: Fuel mileage.Wind up this baby and listen to hear her sing! The V-10 makes a higher pitch sound unlike a V-8. Of course, the performance is also incredible. This car can be a comfortable luxury driver or, by pushing the 'Sport' button, becomes a high performance screamer. The SMG transmission takes some getting used to. However, it is quite satisfactory. The I Drive is overly complicated and you'll have to read the owners manual. Quality of the build is typical of BMW and excellent. I have several late model high performance cars including a Cadillac CTS-V and a Nissan GT-R. The BMW M6 is my first choice for driving.
Fun to drive
Pros: Very responsive handling
Cons: Comes with run flat tires. Rides like they are made of stone. It's my midlife crisis ride. 30mpg. Great sports/commuter car. Very reliable. Have not needed anything but oil changes and gas in the tank. I plan to switch to conventional tires when the runflats wear out..
Won't buy again.
Pros: I like the control panel. everything is at your fingertips
Cons: It would be nice if the back seats reclined a little. This was our first (and last) bmw. After owning a 500 sl, i fell in love with the german cars. I like the fact when you touch the gas pedal the car goes and it goes fast.. smooth and comfortable ride. so when we got the X5 I was hoping for the same perfomance. The problem is when i press on the gas pedal, it stops to think, should I go now or wait a few... One time my husband almost got into an accident thinking he could quickly cross, which he did but the other car had to stop sharp. I have taken it to the dealership and they find nothing wrong with it.. I use the premium gas with no cleaners and still no performance. If I wanted a more efficient car I would have looked at others. I wanted a car with some pick up and go, not with mine. They also have a storage area under the trunk cover. You hold up the cover and their is nothing that holds into to place. Kind of hard packing things in there with one hand holding it up, kind of like you were working on under the hood and had to hold the hood while working on it.. they didn't think that one out.
A year of driving bliss
Pros: I-Drive system
Cons: Small trunkWe needed a road car for long trips in California, and sought a diesel based on our mechanic's recommendation. The BMW 335d was new in the U.S., so we bought it on faith and on BMW's prior reputation for excellence. What a joy to drive...plenty of power at all speeds...leaps onto the freeway, passes with ease, practically drives itself. On long trips, delivers over 40 mpg, and overall has yielded 32.6 mpg since it was new.
