Pros: Insulated soft-top
Cons: ground clearance of front end
Advice: You will scrap the front of this car when parkingI love how this car handles. It starts off the line very quickly. Even when not intentionally driving aggressively, you'll leave most cars a quarter mile behind you or further, it just accelerates that quickly. It is truely glued to the road, I haven't chirped the tires yet. It's a fairly comfortable ride, though over longer distances it can get a little uncomfortable. There isn't enough leg room for the 6 footers out there. However, I drive it on 250 mile trips quite frequently and its doable, so for a weekend get away car, its great. Plus, if you hit those mountain roads, with the top down, the view plus the handling, just can't be beat.
Pros: None yet
Advice: Buyer be aware! This car has major defect and BMW service is not as good as it claims! My car ('06 325i) is only a little more than 4 months old and I had a flat tire yesterday. I then realized that it doesn't have a spare tire. The run-flat can only last 50-100 miles and can't go above 50 miles/hr. Since I was more than 30 miles away from home, I called BMW roadside and had the car towed to a local dealer (OpenRoad BMW). The people there told me that I have to replace the tire and it costs $320. Remember, this is a car with only 4000 miles on it! Worse yet, people there were very unfriendly and at the beginning refused to give me a loaner car so that I can go home. When I bought this car I didn't expect to buy into this kind of experience!
Pros: Comfort Access
Cons: Car has to be running to close moon roof or windows
Advice: It's ok to get the automatic, its just as fast and less to deal with in the corners. 3 differest modes. 330i is the way to go.Look forward to driving it everyday! Handling and cornering are superb. Acceleration is very good and I have the auto. Comfort is excellent, around town or on long trips. Get this car into some tight corners and you will have a blast! Go in faster than you feel comfortable with and she will take care of you.
Pros: the comfort access
Cons: Drive is a little rough but worth it.
Advice: Don't get one without the comfort access. If you can drive a manual, go for it.I got my 325 with the sports and premium package and I have to say I am more than impressed. The comfort access is unbelievable. I read lots of reviews but half the time when you get in the car it’s all hype. With the BMW 3 Series its all true. The best I have driven. Oh for you speed enthusiasts you are in for the drive you've been waiting for. I tested the 0 - 60mph time, all I have to say is you have to try it out. Oh one more thing get the manual transmission you won't regret it. I'm loving it
Pros: Push button ignition
Advice: Take the sport suspension packagePurchasing the new BMW 325 was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I had a Mercedes C-class and let me tell you, the performance of the BMW is miles ahead. The engine is very smooth. The handling is unbelievable especially I took the sport suspension package. A great combination of power, sport, luxury and performance.
Pros: The looks of the car.
Cons: Very very poor quality
Advice: Buy the 5 series or find another manufacturer. The appearance of the car is beautiful and that's where it stops. The first thing you notice is the whiney transmission. It sounds like an old Ford pickup. The road noise is very loud. The car was using oil every 1200 miles and finally they replaced the engine at 10000 miles. I had the car back for two weeks and they had to replce the steering rack. I talked to BMW USA and asked that the car be replaced and they claimed that I should wait and see if other problems come up. Is this the BMW experience they talk about in their ads. The dealership has been very accomodating, but trying to get BMW to live up to commercials will not happen. This has been a horrible experience.
Pros: performance, style, and name brand.
Advice: get a lexus or don't expect to have a perfect reliable BMW. Plan to take it to the shop and be sure to get the extended warranty!Okay so BMW is more classy than a Honda, VW, and what not (maybe?), but I have had serious problems with mine. Not just minor service requirments but major issues. I have had to have the car towed twice. The first because the car was shaking violently. They needed to replace the coils in the engine. That took a week and they did not have a loaner car for me. I had to rent one. Then it died on my in a parking lot and had to get a tow truck to the dealership. It was not the battery, they had to replace the fuel tank. Then a few months after that all the brakes had to be replaced. BMW is a great ride yes, but reliability no.
