But the prices on new trucks have been climbing at an alarming rate. A couple years ago, a report said that the average transaction price on a new truck was nearing $40,000. Only ten years back, that average just crested the $30,000. But Autobytel has come to rescue. We have picked the ten cheapest new trucks you can buy. The trucks in question come in all sizes and different engine choices.

Cheap Trucks For 2015: Toyota Tacoma Regular Cab

Ladies and gentlemen, here is the cheapest truck you can buy in the U.S.; the Toyota Tacoma Regular Cab. Starting off at $18,985, the Tacoma regular cab comes equipped with a 2.7L DOHC four-cylinder with 159 horsepower and 180 pound-feet of torque. You can pair it up with either a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic. The standard bed can carry up to 1,335 lbs, while towing stands at 3,500 lbs. Even for the low price, the Tacoma comes well equipped with air conditioning, four-way adjustable driver's seat, 6.1-inch touchscreen with Toyota's Entune infotainment system, Bluetooth, and a tilt/telescopic steering wheel. One other thing in the Tacoma's corner; it happens to be the best truck with retaining its resale value.

Cheap Trucks For 2015: Nissan Frontier King Cab S

You want a midsize truck, but need a little bit more space. Then the Nissan Frontier King Cab S will fill that need. With a base price of $20,510, the Frontier King Cab S gives you and a passenger a of lot space to put your stuff in. A 2.5L four-cylinder making 152 horsepower and 171 pound-feet of torque gets the Frontier moving with no sweat. A five-speed automatic gets all of this power down to the road. Standard equipment for the S includes a 6'1" bed, four-wheel Anti-lock Braking System with Electronic Brake force Distribution, two twelve-volt DC power outlets, and more.

Cheap Trucks For 2015: Toyota Tacoma Double Cab

Looking for a truck that doesn't cost that much, but can still carry you and three to four of your friends? Then the Toyota Tacoma Double Cab is that truck. The Double Cab is what Toyota calls their crew cab model and features four full-size doors and a 60/40 split rear bench. There is a number of configurations available for the Double cab with the choice of two different engines (the 2.7L DOHC four-cylinder and a 4.0L V6), two different transmissions, and a number of packages which include the TRD off-road package that adds new shocks, larger wheels, and skid plates. The Tacoma Double Cab begins at $22,725.

Cheap Trucks For 2015: Ram 1500 Tradesman

Consider these numbers for the RAM 1500 Tradesman.

  • Optional 5.7L HEMI V8 with 395 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque

Cheap Trucks For 2015: Ram 1500 Express

For some people, buying a pickup truck isn't just to used for work. It's also used for play and showing off a bit. That's where the Ram 1500 Express comes in. While it may be a step up from the base Tradesman, Ram has made some changes to give the Express a sporting edge. The exterior gets a body-colored grille, twenty-inch chrome, and a dual-exhaust system. That exhaust systems allows the standard 5.7L HEMI V8 with 395 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque to breath. Paired up to six-speed automatic, the Express can tow up to 10,350 pounds and do burnouts all day long. Plus, a base price of $26,995 only makes the Ram 1500 Express a handsome value.

Cheap Trucks For 2015: Ram 2500 Tradesman

Yep we have another Ram Tradesman model on our cheap trucks list, but this happens to be the heavy duty 2500 model. Much like the 1500 model, the 2500 Tradesman was built to work with such features as a seventeen-inch steel wheels, a class five trailer hitch, 5.7L HEMI V8, and six-speed automatic. This gives the Tradesman some impressive stats of 3,170 lbs for maximum payload and maximum tow rating of 18,350 lbs. There's a number of options available for 2500 Tradesman including two different cab options, two other engine choices, four-wheel drive, and more. The RAM 2500 Tradesman starts at $30,115.

Cheap Trucks For 2015: Nissan Frontier PRO-4X King Cab

Are you needing a truck to get you through some of the worst that mother nature has to offer? The Nissan Frontier PRO-4X King Cab should at the top of your list. The PRO-4X trades in the standard 2.5L four-cylinder for a very stout 4.0L V6 with 261 horsepower and 281 pound-feet of torque. Nissan fits a set of Bilstein shocks, rear locking differential, hill decent control, hill start assist, and skid plates. There's also a bit of practicality with the Frontier getting the Utili-track Channel System which features channels on the bed to allow more versatility when tying down cargo. The Nissan Frontier PRO-4X King Cab begins at $31,280.

Cheap Trucks For 2015: Nissan Titan PRO-4X King Cab

Want a full-size truck that can get you pretty much anywhere at anytime? Nissan's Titan PRO-4X King Cab is a good choice. With a base price of $37,580, the Titan comes equipped with a 5.6L, 32-Valve V8 making 317 horsepower and 385 pound-feet of torque paired to a five-speed automatic. Like the Frontier PRO-4X, the Titan PRO-4X gets a load of off-road goodies such as Rancho off-road performance shocks, locking rear differential, Dana front and rear axles, two-speed transfer case, and skid plates. There's also eighteen-inch wheels finished done in a graphite finish and a set of PRO-4X graphics.

One of the growing segments in pickup trucks is luxury models. Trucks that come equipped with such features as leather, premium audio systems, ventilated seats, and more. Now this being the cheap trucks list for 2015, you might think finding a 'cheap luxury truck' would be a waste of time. But the Ford F-150 Lariat would like to challenge that. If there is one thing truck manufacturers like to brag about, it's how much power their diesel engines make. Case in point, the 6.7L PowerStroke Diesel for Ford's F-Series Superduty lineup making 440 horsepower and 860 pound-feet of torque. Impressive to say the least.
