one great car
Pros: driving this car
Cons: nothingHandling super, power everything, added keyless entry. 36 mpg with air on, 39 without. never lets you down afun driver. Recommend highly the hatchback model. joek hemphill tx
Good value for the money!
Pros: Fuel economy
Cons: Not very quickSo it's not fast or luxurious, but it's reliable and gets good gas mileage. Have almost 160,000 miles on it so far. Not disappointed.
Yaris 3 door hatchback
Pros: Hatchback and fold down seats.
Cons: Center mount speedometer and guagesFun car to drive, good mileage, good power for a four banger, noisy from wind on freeway, Stripped model with Auto and Air.
Pros: Load capacity of liftback model
Cons: Headlights should turn off automatically when key removed.
Advice: Enjoy the price.Purchased Dec. 2006. Now has over 22,000 mi. Driven several times between San Diego and Indio, Ca. Hi-speed freeway driving, involving CA 60, with winding and hilly road, and a stretch of I-10 and gusty winds North of Palm Springs. Aerodynamic shape holds the road, and car is peppy. Radio gets occasional static, but since absolutely NO WARRANTY problems, this can be overlooked. Really wanted to see what a car UNDER $13,000.00 could offer. This does the job. Great drink holders, mileage o.k. (9 gal to fill, and close to 330 mi. range).
Pros: gas milage
Cons: all the defects.
Advice: don't buy a yaris. I'm pretty sure there are more saferI had the same thing happen to me. 3 mos after driving it off the lot my air conditioner started to fail. the dashboard would shake badly. I took it to the dealership and they charged me $400 because there was a piece of paper stuck somewhere in there. they said it was because i had paper in the glove compartment, and was sucked in there when i turned on the air. it really upset me, now my heater core is leaking water all over my passengers feet. Im afraid to take it in for they might fault me for their defected part.Im not a fan of my yaris.
Pros: gas milage and Toyota reliability
Cons: It's a little small compared to my last 4 SUV's but I am very used to it now and having to add several options
Advice: Disregard Comsumer reports negatives - it's not noisy, and the ride is fine especially on the highway - and finally the joke about the center console being a distraction is not an issueAfter owing my Yaris for a year now, I am very happy with it -- worst mpg was a tank at 34 miles/gallon at my usual 74 mph on the highway - it routinely averages 38 mpg and reached 41 on a long trip. I added studless michlen winter tires and have had no trouble even with the 30+ inces of snow we have had so far this year. My dealer here in Maine (Charlie's) has been great to work with. Buy a Yaris and enjoy it.
Pros: Gas mileage
Cons: Tiny engine
Advice: Test drive a Honda Fit first just to make sure.Great economy, looks, practicality, and a very solid little engine for what it is.
