Toyota has bumped up the standard for the full size truck category with the introduction of the 2007 Toyota Tundra at the 2006 Chicago Auto Show. The all-new 2007 Toyota Tundra is bigger and better in every way. The Tundra has gained 10 inches in length, 5 inches in height and 4 inches in width, and has a towing capacity of over 10,000 pounds. Designers worked hard to make the 2007 Tundra a truck in the real sense of the word with rugged looks, lots of power from a new 5.7-liter V8 and comfort items such as tailgate dampers, a glovebox designed to hold a thermos, and a center console that can be a file cabinet or a laptop case. There is no doubt the naysayers will be taking a second look at the new 2007 Toyota Tundra and re-evaluating their opinions.

Rear 3/4

Taking center stage at the 2006 Chicago Auto Show is the all-new 2007 Toyota Tundra. Toyota is serious about grabbing a bigger share of the truck market and built the new Tundra to meet the needs of truck buyers.

Dash

Toyota built the new 2007 Tundra to provide the toughness needed by real truck buyers for the exterior and drive components, but designed an interior that is versatile and comfortable.

Engine

Two engines will be available in the new 2007 Toyota Tundra, a 4.0-liter V6 and a new 5.7-liter V8. (Yeah, that's the same as a Hemi.) A six-speed automatic transmission will also be available.

Wheels

The concept Tundra shown at the 2006 Chicago Auto Show was equipped with twenty-inch alloy wheels. Whether or not they show up on the production version of the 2007 Toyota Tundra as standard or optional equipment is yet to be seen or revealed.

Towing

Toyota got serious when it came to the towing capacity of the all-new 2007 Toyota Tundra. The Class IV hitch is integrated into the frame of the truck, enabling the Tundra to tow in excess of 10,000 pounds.

Seats

Inside, the 2007 Toyota Tundra is all about comfort and functionality. Designers fit the Tundra with 10-way adjustable seats and designed the U-shaped cluster to make everything easily accessible as well as making the switches and buttons easy to use while wearing gloves.

Transmission

The 2007 Toyota Tundra will be equipped with a six-speed automatic transmission as one of its options. Officials are being quiet about other details but we suspect a manual transmission will also be offered.

Rear Seats

Riding in the rear seats of a pickup used to be avoided at all costs due to cramped quarters. No more -- as trucks have grown in size, so has the rear seating. The rear seats of the 2007 Toyota Tundra are almost as roomy and comfortable as those up front.

Sideview

The 2007 Toyota Tundra's all-new design was a big hit at the 2006 Chicago Auto Show. For years, the Toyota Tundra was shunned as a full-size truck, but not any more. Toyota has increased every dimension of the new Tundra.

Brakes

Certain specifics about the 2007 Toyota Tundra were being kept quiet by officials, but they did state that the 2007 Toyota Tundra would have heavy-duty front discs with larger discs at the rear wheels.
