This is a very nice well cared for truck. Only real problem has been the sorry front brakes. They're down to about 25 % now, just couldn't justify replacing until now. Putting on dimpled and slotted rotors with premium ceramic pads soon. Rotors guaranteed not to warp. This will cure the only problem I've had except a recall on lower ball joints early in it's life.

My only complaint,the front brakes.Obviously too small,or poor quality rotors.When it's time for brakes,I'll put on better rotors and calipers. I guess Toyota took care of that problem on the larger 2007 model,but too late for the prior years.I hate it when I'm told about warping due to hot rotor and driving in the rain.If I wasn't planning to drive in the rain I would have bought another motorcycle.I'm easy on brakes,82,000 miles on my 2002 Acura TL-S original front brakes.

Advice: May not be a good work truckthis is a great truck have had it for one year and have had no problems with it at all. My wife loves to drive it because it it handles like a SUV not a truck. Have driven the 2007 and 2008 and do not like them to big and not as nice as my 2006. I have the xsp which is a nice package with all the goodies. The 4.7 with the 6 speed trany

Advice: It will pull,hall or 4x4 to your hearts content with lots of comfort.I have 10,000 miles on my tundra and had no problems with it. I had a ram 2500 diesal 4x4 quad cab before. Also a 1999 chevy one ton for door 2x4 so I do know about larger trucks. First of all I am as picky about every squeek rattle,driving issue as anyone! when I drive the tundra it is solid with no drift,shake or squeeks. I pull A Kubota 30 horse tractor as well as my masonry contracting supplys. I use this truck but also care and maintain it myself so I can personly see any problems like oil leaks or loose ball joints etc. I know it has low miles but this very consistant planted truck does what I ask with no sign of problems or downfalls. plus you con take it off road because the truck has a suspension not to stiff.

Advice: GMC, Chevy, Ford or DodgeTundra Tough?, I live on a ranch in southwest Texas. To survive in this hot dry dusty climate of hard working, whiskey drinking, bull riding cowboy’s sets the standard for “tough”. Somehow, someone in the Toyota marketing department does not understand the true definition of “Tough”. I purchased the new Tundra because it was “suppose to-be” tough and roomy. Fifty percent of my driving is on dirt or gravel roads and pastures. Since owning this Tundra, I have on a few occasion’s had loads that have bottomed out the springs on the axles. It is powerful, very roomy, comfortable and rides good. My disappointments started about one (1) month after the purchase. We had a heavy rain in the area. My drive is a dirt road off the highway. My wife attempted to turn into a parking area by the barn and came within inches of sliding into a large oak tree. The original equipment tires a “bad” (ref. www.tirerack.com) list these tires a dangerous on wet surfaces. I emailed Toyota and the dealer with digital pictures on the danger of these tires, only to get “politically correct responses by some office clerk. So be prepared to spend about $1200.00 for some good safe tires. After the initial warranty 36k miles the Tundra Tough started coming apart: Interior plastic clips started breaking off. The sun visor on the passenger side froze and cannot be moved. The cargo lamp lights burn out on a regular basis. The front ball joints came apart at 60k miles. At 65k miles the drive shaft rear U-joint completely shattered and the carrier bearing had to be replaced. The gas mileage is “terrible” does not come close to the advertised sticker on the window. The Tundra is powerful, very roomy, comfortable and rides good, a great “looks” for tough. It is “NOT” tough. Basically, this truck is a for a city want-a-be (Drug Store Cowboy) to driving down a paved highway. Every part is a dealer item, so you better live near a dealdr and be ready to fork over big bucks. The only after market ites are gas, oil and air filters. If you need a family work truck stick to the GMC, Chevy, Ford or Dodge.
