Cons: RUST RUST RUSTThe first 4 years were trouble free, another happy Toyota owner. Then it started! Rust started to take over on the underside of my vehicle and every 15 months I was in the shop getting rusted rear brakes replaced. Then 7 years into my ownership experience my frame started to flake off big chunks of rust. Toyota has serious problems in the quality area as I was quick to learn in early 2009. 1995 - 2000 Tocomas being bought back due to rusted frames, 2001 - 2004 Tacomas being both bought back (early on) and new frames being installed in the others, 2001 - 2004 Tundras with same issue of rusted frame, not to mention all the other recalls recently.

Advice: other trucks sell new for as much but don't hold the trade or resale as well as toyotahave the tow package but could not get tow mirror option also no place to install brake controller. i had to remove the ash tray, no prob, i don't smoke. also the truck is prewired for towing but having to remove Ds kick panel and dig the connector out was an unnecessary problem. other than this, so far, it is a great vehical, love it.

Advice: Buy a prior lease on this and get $10,000 off the price like I did.I had a 1996 6 cyl 4wd xtra cab until 2006 got 278,000 miles on it. Just bought this Newer 4wd dble cab with 66,000 miles on it and absolutley love it !

Advice: For power, ride, room and resale, the TUNDRA beats them all.Traded a Sprot Trac for a F150 Crew Lariat then up to a new 09 Tundra SR5 DBL 4x4 (Black / Tan) Superior ride, handling, breaking and towing over the Ford. A full load or trailer with my 7800 lb boat almost disappear vs. the Ford Triton which struggled to break 50 mph up any hill. MPG is a full 2 mpg better than the Ford without load and 5 to 6 better fully loaded. I am 6'5 /250 and have more than ample space all around. My hair brushed the roof in the ford but the tundra has 3+ inches to spare. Feature for feature, the Toyota wins. Great build quality and attention to details that Ford misses as well

Advice: try to drive for more than a short ride, compare to others for front seat comfort.Reason I bought: rear seat can actually accommodate adults in some comfort as long as front seats are not too far back. Has ALL the safety features I wanted -- side curtain, active head restraints, stability control, and roof that meets 2010 IIHS testing standards. Very safe vehicle. I like: ride is tolerable, brakes (though soft) are very effective, steering is slow but that's appropriate -- it's a truck. Engine has good torque at low RPMs and can climb hills in 5th gear turning 1000 rpm when poking around town. This probably saves gas. MPG is OK -- getting 17.5 around town even before break-in. I like the rear-view camera. The rear seat is wide enough for an adult and two kids in car seats. I don't like: front seat bottoms (seat pans) are too low. They should incorporate adjustable seat height mechanisms from 4-runner. Dead pedal on left for driver is too narrow and too short. Truck downshifts excessively (two gears down) after turns around town, even when truck is driven very gently. This seems unnecessary and results in a brief racing of the engine followed by a hard upshift. Engine is a bit loud and harsh on acceleration, and I get some vibration at idle. I hate the beeping when locked and unlocked. I had to unplug the damn thing.
