2006 Toyota Tacoma - V6 (A5) 4x4 Access Cab
Submitted on 4/1/2007 7:28:21 PM- Summary
Pros: The whole package! Just love doing a job on the big Dodge (430HP) trucks! The looks you get at the next light are great.
Cons: Could use about 30 more HP and that's about it.
Advice: If you get the TRD Sport you will need to put on new rubber as rear end will smoke the junk tires at every light
@ 6800 miles and not one problem. Although, I did put on a set of AT tires that do a better job on and off the road than the OEM junk that came on the vehicle. Just some light off road so not sure how it will do in the heavy stuff?

2006 Toyota Tacoma - Base (M5) 4x2 Access Cab
Submitted on 2/16/2007 12:14:17 PM- Summary
Pros: comfortable ride
Cons: 4x4 open differential operation
Advice: Undestand how 4x4 works
5k miles and overall not bad BUT, got the 4x4 stuck in the snow which I thought was odd and THEN read about open differential 4x4 set up. If your doing serious off road or very slippery (ICE) conditions, pay attention to the drawbacks versus locking differential. Wished I had known before I bought. Also, doors require a little force to shut properly. Local dealer tells me that because the truck is pretty air tight. Not sure if iA buy that one. Speedometer reading faster than I'm actually going. Local dealer says it's off 3 mph and within tolerance. I believe it to be off more like somewhere between 8 - 10 mph.

Pros: Gas milage and style
Cons: The colors to pick from.
Advice: Buy it you won't go wrong
2006 Tacoma PreRunner has got to be the best of it's class. not only dose it look good but it feels and handles as good as it looks. If your looking fo a V6 with performance that wont cut a hole in your pocket for gas, get the Toyota Double cab PreRunner.

Pros: Seat comfort
Cons: Transmission
Advice: Don't buy it...
The 2.7 L engine is underpowered for use in a 4x4. The 5-speed manual transmission is the worst shifting transmission I've ever driven - feels like clutch not fully engaging. Suspension is nice for a truck, but had to upgrade to gas shocks. The truck comes with a plastic bed made in Mexico - need I say more... Overall, I'd wished I'd purchased something else! Oh, and each time I've contacted the dealer about a problem, I get ignored.
