    2005 Toyota Tacoma - (A5) 4x4 Double-Cab Short Box

    Pros: ergonomically designed interior

    Cons: N/A

Advice: Second to none! Toyota is the best purchase for the money in quality, and refinement

This 2006 tacoma crew cab handles extremely well on the road. I was very impressed with its capabilities, it handles very smooth, and corners extremely well for a truck, no evident rolling or leaning, in the corners, very impressive. Ample power in the v-6, and runs very smooth, as well as the 5-speed automatic transmission, which really impressed me. Felt like a bmw, or the like in its shifting capabilities. I have owned previous toyotas, and find it to be consistently well made, exceptional quality, that never lets you down. Hats off to toyota once again. Many thanks for your superb design, and engineering accomplishments, its not hard to understand why toyota is most assuredly in a class all of its own. Toyota Owner for Life!

    2005 Toyota Tacoma - (M6) 4x4 Double-Cab Short Box

Pros: Smart use of cargo space (large rear seat)

    Cons: Cheap looking interior

Advice: Look carefully at the Frontier and Ridgeline

Very solid truck - a dream to drive. Very comfortable, good power and looks great. A bit iffy on the interior finishings. If you opt not to get the TRD package, the seats seem a bit cheap. There's not a lot of bells and whistles, but if you like a truck for what a truck should be - practicality, this fits the bill.

    2005 Toyota Tacoma - (A5) 4x4 Double-Cab Short Box

Pros: TRD Package, Power, Style, Solid Build, Just driving ,and handling.

Cons: Key entry, back seat could be up aother 2 inches.

Advice: One the Top Two Mid Size Trucks around, Buy It. You Cant go wrong.

Drives excellent. Nice off road package, tow-package also. Does very well in mudd, rain, snow, climbing rough roads. The ride is very smooth, plenty of power for a V-6 and excellent gas mileage. Build very well, and would buy two if I had the money. Toyota has build another excellent truck. Also plenty of passing power in the V-6. Takes curves very well. In side the Cab is very comfortable and plenty of room. Thanks Toyota for building a excellent truck.

    2005 Toyota Tacoma - PreRunner V6 (M6) 4x2 Access Cab

    Pros: The V-6 Standard shift.

    Cons: the interior plastic trim

Advice: 2005 Model year brought some improvements over the 2004. Anticipate a smile on your face.

Coming from the Chevy/Ford world, with limited exposure to anything foreign made, I had a customer shock with the way that the foreign car companies translate the word 'Astetics.' I knew that Toyota in general was doing a great job in producing vehicles that lasted, (not true when I was just leaving high school in the mid-seventies), and performed, but not until I drove the Tacoma PreRunnner, did I believe it. The shock-absorbing techniques used on the engine are a welcome plus, not translating the shimmering of the average six-cylinder to the body. The ladies may not like, (and I'm not sure that I do either, much) the more 'plastic' and 'not warm' characteristics of the dashboard, (particularly the radio control area), but it's a comfortable and high-seated ride overall. Since I prefer to shift for myself, I chose the 6-speed version, and found that there was very little need for first gear unless at a full up-hill stop.

    2005 Toyota Tacoma - 4x2 Double-Cab Short Box

    Pros: Looks

    Cons: Cruise control

Advice: wait until they fix the cruise control

When the cruise control engages, it drops the transmission into third gear and shoots the RPM to about 6500. The service manager at Bill Penny said this is normal for this truck and that a service report had been filed with Toyota. He said it is a programming problem common with the 2005 Tacoma Double cab. When you are doing 70 and it drops into third gear and accellerates you are in for one wild ride.
