2005 Toyota Tacoma - 4x4 Double-Cab Long Box
Submitted on 6/20/2007 6:17:11 AM- Summary
Pros: Power
Cons: Tough for my grandparents to get in and out.
Advice: Get a TRD package
I have almost 30,000 miles on my truck now and it feels like it's just now starting to break in! Mileage is even starting to improve, I'm getting an average of 18+ and drive in town mostly. I can't stress enough how many people ask my how I like my truck, I have a loaded quad cab long bed 4 x 4 with the TRD package w/tow. Love it! Just a tip though, I have the silver paint and HIGHLY recommend it for a long lasting clean look. My neighbor just asked me yesterday if I just waxed it, I haven't waxed it once since I've had it LoL. I do use a touch-less car wash though, it's never had a brush on it........that helps IMHO. Good luck in your next truck choice, I looooooove mine :0)

2005 Toyota Tacoma - V6 (A5) 4x4 Access Cab
Submitted on 9/2/2006 6:49:52 AM- Summary
Pros: V6
Cons: sun visor design, how high you sit up in the cab, if the truck were to roll over the occupants would be crushed
Advice: use the gear shifter on automatics, use the sun visor and think about it an inch or two lower- will you be able to see out it an inch or two lower because in a few months it will drop down a little
It's a good vehicle overall. However, it does have a few problems that I consider fairly important. First is the gear shifter(automatic) is easy to knock down a gear. If you don't watch out you can hit the shifter, with your hand or anything, and drop the gears from 5th to 4th gear. If you are going down the highway that can be bad. Second, the sun visors drop down in your field of view after awhile. I've had them replaced 5 times and adjusted several other times. You sit so high in the cab that the when the visors drop down you can only see about 10 ft in front of the vehicle. I all most hit a sign because I didn't see it. Not good.

Pros: The 4-Door cab and Long bed
Cons: Nothing comes to mind
Advice: Get Yourself One!
I see this review is for the 2005 model. Mine is a 2006. Hope that's ok. I like this truck a lot. It has enough power to get you up to speed fast on the Interstate. Mine is the 4.0 engine. Don't think you could find a better truck over all.

2005 Toyota Tacoma - V6 (A5) 4x4 Access Cab
Submitted on 2/26/2006 2:04:29 PM- Summary
Pros: Gets decent gas mileage for a 6 cyl.
Cons: Very noisy cab at highway speeds.
Advice: Run as fast as you can in the other direction. This truck costs too much to have so many problems.
This is my first (and last) Toyota. The brakes are weak, the rear doors let in wind noise at speeds over 40 mph, the motor idles very fast (dealer says this is normal, but it seems very hard on the transmission when you go into drive) and the paint seems to be very thin as it chips easily.

2005 Toyota Tacoma - (A5) 4x4 Double-Cab Short Box
Submitted on 2/22/2006 5:53:07 PM- Summary
Pros: ergonomically designed interior
Cons: N/A
Advice: Second to none! Toyota is the best purchase for the money in quality, and refinement
This 2006 tacoma crew cab handles extremely well on the road. I was very impressed with its capabilities, it handles very smooth, and corners extremely well for a truck, no evident rolling or leaning, in the corners, very impressive. Ample power in the v-6, and runs very smooth, as well as the 5-speed automatic transmission, which really impressed me. Felt like a bmw, or the like in its shifting capabilities. I have owned previous toyotas, and find it to be consistently well made, exceptional quality, that never lets you down. Hats off to toyota once again. Many thanks for your superb design, and engineering accomplishments, its not hard to understand why toyota is most assuredly in a class all of its own. Toyota Owner for Life!
