2nd sienna I've owned - both were excellent vehicl
Pros: back seats folding down flat to give more cargo space
Cons: I can't think of anythingOnly ever replaced tires, front brake lining, battery and wiper blades and belts when needed. Otherwise just kept it serviced and put gas in and go. Only two minor recalls. It is a great and versatile van.
Cons: day time running lights unreliable-don't always turn offhave been happy with sienna; would like a different appearance for my next one
Pros: visibility,absolute super vehicle
Starting to cost us, Toyota Sienna
Pros: radio controlls on steering wheel
Cons: problemsWe have an 04 Sienna with 110K on it. It is starting to show a few signs of wear although we have performed all recomended maintance. We are looking at a new steering rack as ours is leaking $1450(labour inc), also our driver door has a broken mecanism in it so makes a horrible noise when you open and close it. I guess there was a silent recall on this, but our vehicle was to old to cover the entire thing so Toyota has supplied us with the door and we have to cover the rest $850. Also our sliding passenger door has been working intermittently for about 1 yr now. I just turn it off and use it manually as i can only imagine what the would set us back. Other than that we have not had any major issues (touch wood), but i feel for a vehicle of its age the steering rack should still be good, especially when you try to buy a decent vehicle. (the prices I have written are all in Can $)
Pros: The quiet drive
Cons: Sliding doors freeze all winter long. Can't use them AT ALL
Advice: Don't buy one if you live in cold weatherWe like our toyoyta sienna in warm weather but it is almost worthless to us in the cold weather. We live in Wisconsin and cannot use the sliding doors when it is cold. They freeze shut and it is a safety issue. You cannot open the doors from the outside or inside so you cannot get your kids out if in an accident. Toyota won't help us and told us it was a design flaw. We will never buy another one.
Pros: Interior space, ride comfort, fuel efficiency.
Cons: Poor build quality. Expensive.
Advice: Test drive Honda Odyssey to compare.Bought my 2004 Sienna in Apr 2003. The van is roomy, ride is smooth & comfortable, interior lay-out is efficient & very functional suitable for family with small children. The van in general is good, but not on-par with quality that expected from a Japanese company. There are more problems, not including recalls by Toyota, on this van compare to other Honda/Nissan/Infinity/Accura and even Ford vehicles that I've own previously. The engine micro-computer malfunctioned at 12000 miles activating ABS in D-gear. The keyless remote has the shortage range compared to others and worked intermittently from day one, finally replaced after 3 battery changes. The passenger power sliding door squeaks, driver side sliding door didn't latch intermittently. Some rattles here & there. The CD player broke after about 90 hrs of accumulative playing time, unfortunately it broke at barely over 36000, so I'm still negotiating with Toyota to cover it under warranty. Overall, it is a good van but not really lived up to expectation.
Pros: seat comfort,safety,JBL sound system~everything!
Cons: no spare tire with AWD,?
Advice: this is way better than all other vans out there! saved my kids and my life in an accident!i love this vehicle,it can carry a load of 7 passengers on a busy freeway with no worry,i used to own a 2001 town&country it could not get my family on the freeway unless it was just me and my wife,it had only a 3.8liter with only 205 hp,my new sienna has 230hp and 250lb of torque! the safety is a real plus,i was hit in the rear on the freeway,i was taking 2 of my kids to a softball game,in woodinville, a guy rear ended me around 40 mph,i had only moderate damage cause of the rear crumple zone VS. hondas, chrysler, and nissans front only!my kids and i got only minor cuts! has a bunch of standard equpment, also has a lot of value! i only purchased this fully loaded limited model for 37,000,it cost me 40,000$+ for my town&country that only lasted 36,000 miles! i recomend this car,way better than honda odyssey! sienna 1 recall, odyssey 4 recalls! power windows in the second row,and the dvd system is great,i listen to radio, they watch a movie,i love the navigation system,i love the park assist, the headlights are bright, the JBL system with 10 speakers and 360 watts is a real boomer,it rocks so much,i love watching movies on it!
