Ronnie Lott Edition
Pros: Versatility of seating ( over 16 different configurations )
Cons: stock sound system ( nowhere near flat frequency response )
Advice: hunt for a used vehicle with some miles left on the mfr warrantyIn comparison to the Ford Expedition, the Sequoia was as smooth as silk. Even with 40,000 miles on it, the Sequoia was tight and responsive. The engine is almost as willing to rev as my SHO. Fit and finish are superb. 3rd row seats are the real thing; thick and comfortable. Safety features abound in this truck; stability control, skid control, brake assist, ABS, front and side airbags, reinforced side beams, etc.
Pros: true 8 passenger seating
Cons: plastic covers on the outlets
Advice: if you have another SUV, test drive this oneI have a 2001 Limited and love it. I traded in a 2000 Eddie Bauer Expedition that was much less than I expected for the money... The only problem I've had is the handle on the cargo door broke off (maybe from my 3 year old swinging on it). I get 19 miles per gallon on 87 octane around town chauferring kids. I needed the 8 seats, and no mini-van can give you the room this has. The second row has more head/leg room than the front. No other SUV 3rd row can compare.
Pros: It's quiet, comfortable and handles well.
Cons: The stereo system. Needs at least two more speakers in the rear.
Advice: Must test drive it to appreciate the handlingAwesome handling and comfort. It drives like a car. It's so comfortable, it's a pleasure to drive long distance. The upgraded stereo system is not worth the price. Stick with the original audio system. Get the retractable mirrors, it makes parking in the home garage and tight parking places so much easier.
Pros: Power rear window
Cons: Memory package not available
Advice: I use mid-grade gasoline because it would knock / ping when 87 octane was used.Wonderful, spacious family vehicle.
Cons: Lack of Toyota Customer Service
Advice: BE CAREFUL and prepare for a wait if you have problemsThe Toyota Sequoia is a stylish SUV with a great ride and plenty of power. It is a great buy EXCEPT for the electrical problems and the lack of attention from Toyota. I have had three problems with the Sequoia that Toyota has never been able to resolve. First the High Beams may or may not come on. Second the radio has an annoying HISS from the rear speakers and third, the vehicle does not work like the manual says nor do some of the options exist for the user that the manual says are there. Toyota originally said they had a problem then classified the situtation as NORMAL when they could not figure out a solution
Pros: Smoothness and power
Cons: gas mileage
Advice: Great vehicle. Be aware of low mileageQuiet and smooth. Hard to tell that the engine is running.
