2007 Toyota RAV4 - Sport (A4) FWD
Pros: Quality Build, Reliability, Appearance, and Fun to Drive
Cons: The swing of the rear gate
Advice: It's a great vehicle and you just can't go wrong with ToyotaI used to have a Jeep Liberty and I just had to get rid of that because of too many problems with the electrical system and I was left stranded in the Liberty twice. I own a 2004 Rav4 and couldn't be happier. It smokes the competition as far as build quality, versatility, and fun. I have no doubt that the Rav4 will easily get 300,000 miles. The new CRV is a quality build as well, but in my opinion is just not nearly as nice looking of a vehicle as the Rav. Bottom line: Buy the Rav4 so you have something you can keep for many years to come. They have a bulletproof reputation for reliability.
2007 Toyota RAV4 - Base (A4) FWD
Cons: Acceleration/ride/noise/rear gate
Advice: Get the 6 cylinder. EPA mileage is only 1 mpg less, but pushes price up 2k or so.I test drove the 4 cyl. version for about 1/2 day, and was a bit disappointed. As far as acceleration, it is something of a slug. The ride is jittery and road noise quite evident. Handling/cornering is very good, thanks to the standard ESC, I guess. Front manual control seats were surprisingly comfortable, and second row seating is quite spacious. Cargo space is very good with the seats folded down. Toyota build quality is evident and the vehicle feels solid and substantial. The side opening rear gate is very annoying, particularly since the hinges are on the curb side.
2006 Toyota RAV4 - Sport V6 (A5) 4x4
Pros: V6 - blows away the competition
Cons: Swing-out back door
Advice: Get the Sport V6 - don't even think of getting the 4 cylinder! My Sport 4X4 V6 was hard to find locally, but what a combination! The V6 has awesome power - it leaps into a freeway merge from a standing start. Don't even think of getting the 4 cylinder. A sensitive foot on the accelerator helps to keep things smooth. The sport suspension feels like a sports car rather than a SUV - great road feel. The 4WD plows thru puddles - not just for snow. Excellent road visibility - easy to navigate in heavy traffic. Getting 22 MPG in mostly city traffic. I loved the 18' alloy wheels and cool brown interior. The swinging gate was a bit awkward when someone is parked close behind, but the spare outside means more room inside. Lots of room for a 6'2' driver & rear passenger. Get the cargo cover and upgraded radio. Outstanding!
2006 Toyota RAV4 - Limited V6 (A5) 4x4
Pros: the V6 power
Cons: lack of comfort in passenger sear and rear seats
Advice: Try out the seats as a passenger, make sure you are comfortable for long trips.V6 limited, very sporty, lots of power, less than expected for gas mileage, about 22 hwy. Comfort in passenger and rear seats is dismal. Drivers seat ok. some problems with radio display, tire pressure light, drivers side sun visor. these are being taken care of by dealer, but it took some time. Road noise more than expected.
2007 Toyota RAV4 - Base V6 (A5) 4x4
Pros: The V-6 gives awesome power with little sacrifice in MPG
Cons: Rear window seems a little small
Advice: Get the V-6 and four wheel drive. Also, though they're hard to find, get the third row seating. This is my first Toyota and I must say I'm sold on Toyota's quality, engineering and just smart design. The V-6 is a must as is the 4 wheel drive. We got the base model with the third row seats...sweet. Plenty of options come standard. This is a very high tech vehicle with all the latest safety gadgets. We hope to keep this vehicle for a long, long time. We expect to get 28-30 on the highway.
2006 Toyota RAV4 - Limited V6 (A5) 4x4
Pros: Love the V6 engine, and the sports car like drive!
Cons: Spare tire on back.
Advice: I would go with the V6 engine. It's wonderful! We love driving our 2006 RAV4! We have the Limited V6 4x4 version. Took it on a long trip, and it performed beautifully! It has amazing cargo space, and leg room for front, and back passengers. So far we have put 5,000 miles on our RAV4, with no problems.
2006 Toyota RAV4 - Base V6 (A5) FWD
Advice: get the V-6get the V-6. Compared with CRV. Rav4 got the nod. Overall, Toyota makes an awesome vehicle.
