2015 Toyota RAV4 Summary

Changes for the 2015 Toyota RAV4:

Aside from the addition of a power tailgate to the XLE model’s option menu, changes to the 2015 RAV4 are primarily cosmetic. A new Superchrome finish is offered for the XLE’s 17-inch aluminum wheels, while the RAV4 Limited is available with a cosmetic upgrade package combining Blizzard White Pearl paint with a special 18-inch wheel treatment. Hot Lava is a new color for 2015.

Model Lineup:

When buying a 2015 RAV4, you choose between LE, XLE, and Limited trim levels, to which you can add various cosmetic, infotainment, and safety upgrades as well as numerous dealer-installed accessories.

Select the RAV4 XLE is you want 17-inch aluminum wheels, fog lights, roof rails, a power sunroof, and heated side mirrors with integrated turn signal indicators. This model also contains dual-zone automatic climate control, a cargo area cover, bigger front seat bolsters, and an upgraded audio system with satellite radio and HD Radio. A navigation system, Entune App Suite technology, and a power tailgate are options for this model.

The Limited is the most luxurious version of the RAV4, featuring leatherette seat upholstery, Smart Key passive entry with push-button engine starting, a power tailgate, automatic headlights, and bigger 18-inch aluminum wheels. Additionally, the RAV4 Limited is equipped with upgraded interior trim, unique cabin colors and treatments, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a navigation system, and Entune App Suite. A premium sound system, several safety technologies, and an appearance package are options for this model.

Engines and Transmissions:

A 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine is standard in all RAV4 models, generating 176 horsepower and powering the front wheels through a 6-speed automatic transmission. An all-wheel-drive system with dynamic torque control can send up to 50 percent of the engine’s power to the rear wheels, and at speeds under 25 mph the driver can lock the AWD system to evenly split power for greater traction.

All RAV4 models are also covered by Toyota’s free scheduled maintenance program, which is active for the first two years or 25,000 miles of ownership.

Fuel Economy Ratings:

In combined driving, the RAV4 with front-wheel drive is rated to get 26 mpg. Add the AWD system, and the estimate falls to 25 mpg.

Safety Ratings:

As this summary is written, neither the NHTSA nor the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has performed crash tests on the 2015 Toyota RAV4. Since the NHTSA didn’t simply carry last year’s ratings forward, this strongly indicates that Toyota may have made unannounced structural changes that are designed to improve the SUV’s safety.

Technology Highlights:

Toyota offers several different versions of its Entune infotainment system for the various RAV4 models. Upgrades include satellite radio, HD Radio, traffic and weather reports, a navigation system, a premium sound system, and Entune App Suite smartphone integration. Additionally, if you’ve chosen the RAV4 Limited, a Technology Package installs automatic high-beam headlights, a blind spot monitoring system with rear cross-traffic monitoring, and a lane departure warning system.
