    2006 Toyota Matrix

    2006 Toyota Matrix

    Pros: Gas mileage

    Cons: Cheaply made

I waited a long time to be able to buy a Toyota and wanted one because they had the reputation of being built well and a dependable vehicle. The five years that I have had this vehicle have proven that idea wrong. Everything from the paint job to the hubcaps are made cheaply on this car. I have kept up the maintenance religiously on my vehicle and the last time I took the vehicle in for maintence I was told I had a $900.00 oil leak around the timing belt. Can't wait to get rid of it, my Hyundai was a much better vehicle, wish I would have kept it!

    2009 Toyota Highlander

    Disappointment plus

Pros: gas mileage, excellent acceleration from a standstill.

Cons: ride, road noise, headrests, side windows fog too easily, cloth seats, too much body plastic, transmission

I was expecting a little more after reading the reviews in various magazines and after owning a 1998 Sienna, which I loved. The Hylander I purchased is a 4-cylinder, 6 speed, with a third row bench seat. No bells or whistles. Pretty much stock. Diappointments - transmission does not shift smoothly, the ride is rough, the headrests are too far forward, the road noise is atrocious, too much plastic, driver's seat cloth wrinkled and stretched, weak A/C, side windows fog up too easily, and the original tires wore out (cupping) under 25,000 miles.

    2007 Toyota 4Runner

    Defies expectations

Pros: the 4wd is second to none. Unbelievable.

    Cons: The lack of headroom

The ONLY complaint is that no one taller than 6'0' could possibly be comfortable driving this car. 2' of headroom are gone due to the sunroof, making it a just-barely fit for 6'0'.

    2008 Toyota Tundra

great truck for both driving and towing

Pros: power, 6 speed trans, stainless exhaust from headers back, looks, overall performance, great on snow and ice

Cons: lack of differential ratio options and audio problems for this year vehicle

Love the truck. Wish Toyota would offer different differential ratios for mileage and for those of us who don't need to pull 10K. 15-18.5 mpg would go up considerably. Delco radio for this year not up to the quality of the Toyota reputation. Great truck otherwise. Will buy another one soon. 42K miles and only problem is radio and brake light problem still under investigation.

    2011 Toyota Avalon

    BEST CAR FOR THE PRICE

Pros: Lots of leg/headroom; Excellent reliability record

Cons: Wish they had kept the Dark Gray interior.

Needed to trade-in our '94 Benz S430. Costing more to keep running than it was worth. Looked at E-Class Benz, LS & GS Lexus, A/S6 and A/S8 Audi's, 5 and 7 Series BMW. Finally settled on the '11 Avalon, but '11 E-Class V8 Benz and GS Hybrid were a close second (Love those AMG's, but ouch!!! The $$$). Been looking at Avalon since the '09 model. Liked the change in the console. Having screen for Nav behind 'glass' was cumbersome. Like the extension and multiple memory for the driver seat (I'm 6' 2'). Lots of room in the rear, even for me. Don't know why they needed two (2) separate locks for the tilt/telescope steering wheel. Miss the Laser Cruise Control. Upgrades on interior styling help bring it closer to the more costly Lexus. Like the change for the exterior rear, also. Checking brouchure stats show that Avalon has more leg, head & shoulder room than LS Lexus. Seems to have more pick-up from standing start and passing than the previous models, although not as good as the German rollers, but Avalon is much less costly to maintain than the Deutche's.
