    2005 Toyota Matrix - XR (M5) FWD

Pros: Loved the feel, the look, and affordability

Cons: Not having 4wd or awd

    Advice: Enjoy!

I purchased this vehicle in November. We drove the AlCan this summer. It's very smooth on the highway. I really loved the car. Unfortunately we rolled it, (not the cars fault and everyone walked away unscathed) but now we need a new car. I was hoping to get another matrix only this time we'd get a 4x4 instead. I'm really bummed that the 07 and 08 models don't offer 4x4 or AWD. Now I'm looking for a used 06 model in the 4x4 and they seem hard to come by, maybe because everyone loves them so much.

    2007 Toyota Matrix - XR (M5)

Pros: The glass hatch makes it convenient to drop groceries in and go!

    Cons: N/A

Advice: If you are looking for an economical and practical ride but don't want to sacrifice style, go with the XR model.

Where do I begin? I love my Matrix. I have always purchased GM products. After trying the Pontiac Vibe I decided to test drive the Matrix and bought it on the spot! The interior is roomy and you can't beat the gas mileage. It has just enough zip to make it fun to drive. I really think my Matrix XR is convinced it is a sports car...

    2006 Toyota Matrix - XR (M5) FWD

    Pros: mpg

    Cons: cant have two

Advice: test drive one and your hooked

Its a corolla. For the price, its hard to beat. My car purs like a kitten. handles curves and for a 1.8 liter engine it mantians zip through all gears and gives me 42mpgs. looks good for a corolla. Id buy another.

    2006 Toyota Matrix - XR (M5) FWD

    Pros: Gas mileage

    Cons: Everything else

    Advice: Don't buy one.

I purchased my Matrix new in July of 05. It has been the worst choice in cars I have ever made. I took it in after 18,000 miles and was told that the tire wear was from a bent frame and they could not align it. The car had never been in an accident. I took it to a reliable alignment shop and they realigned it which has helped. I do not feel I can trust the dealer to work on it if the staff cannot tell a bent frame from poor alignement. The finish is so fragile I touch it up almost every week. This week the silver Toyota emblem on the back cracked in half.I wonder what it will look like in another year.

2006 Toyota Matrix - Base AWD

    Pros: gas milage

    Cons: above issue

Advice: We have owned Toyotas for 30 years. Surely this is a fluke..

I have a new automatic 4/4, 2006 Martix , purchased in December, 2005. In the four months I have owned the car, four separate random times the gears have slipped from automatic to second gear while driving nearly 50 mph. Because the condition cannot be replicated, the dealership is not interested..in fact I think they think I am nuts! My fear is that it will happen on a freeway and cause a serious accident. Obviously the car slows suddenly with no brake lights. Does anyone have any advice? Has this happened to others?

    2006 Toyota Matrix - XR (M5) FWD

    Pros: Interior size, exterior style

Cons: the horsepower (but is good for fuel economic)

Advice: Vibe just can not compare to this car, even they are the same in some how.

With the problems that were found in 2003 matrix, the 2006 matix become much more reliable in the same class of class. I have tried with both the 2003 and 2006 matrix. The engine noise has been sigigicant reduced. With the new 700 pics of safety equipemts install, I would say this is must have car. It just good to have this car compare with the Mazda 5 or 3. Comparing to mazda 5, it has much more space and more realistic to the real world. I am a 5'10' tall person, when I seat on the Mazda 5, the back seat(2nd or 3rd row) could only fit for my kid, the third row of seat is useless. Compare to the matrix, NO problem at all.
