The Toyota Corolla’s been one of the most reliable cars on the road for decades, and with the 2014 model year, Toyota brings in the car’s 11th generation. The new Toyota Corolla was redesigned from the ground up and offers a bunch of trim levels to suit the needs and budgets of a wide range of buyers. Autobytel had access to a new 2014 Toyota Corolla S for this video review, hosted by Road Test Editor Daniel Gray, to showcase the features and capabilities of the top-of-the-line trim level. The new Toyota Corolla S is distinguished by a unique front fascia to lend the vehicle a more youthful appeal. The grille, lighting and trim all combine to lend the Corolla S a more aggressive head-on view than many Corolla shoppers might expect. The suspension has been redesigned for improved handling and cornering capabilities, and the Corolla S sits on 17-inch alloy wheels. This Corolla also offers some updated drivetrain options. The top-of-the-line Corolla S is powered by a 1.8-liter 4-cylinder powerplant that yields 132 horsepower. Buyers can opt for a 6-speed manual or a CVT gearbox. The engine may be modest, but the fuel economy ratings are worth it for the Corolla’s target demographic. An Eco model gets a slight horsepower boost as well as a few more miles per gallon.
