Crossovers used to be for new car buyers who wanted a sport utility vehicle's size and aesthetics without all the hard core function. And by doing that, the thinking went, the early adopters of crossovers could save some money while still transporting a bunch of passengers in comfort and style. The initial strategy worked, and crossovers developed into a category with merits all its own. And, of course, sticker prices climbed accordingly. Now, if you want the size of a sport utility vehicle with a little bit of the aggressive style, but you don't need or want the off road capability, there are a bunch of really nice crossovers that are likely to fit your needs without feeling like a compromise. Check out our list of the top 10 most expensive crossovers if you're in the market for an appealing vehicle, but still have carpool duty.

As you'd expect from any list populated by the most expensive options in any category, these high priced crossovers are really nice. They're designed and engineered with a good balance of power and comfort for an all around high quality ride. Though some feature a little more horsepower, while others try to attract the more comfort minded buyers, that just means shoppers have plenty of options to find a new crossover that meets their needs. The most expensive crossover vehicles all provide plenty of pep from the engine, combined with a technologically advanced cabin with plenty of safety features. No compromise is necessary with any of these high priced crossover vehicles. It's hard to cross shop crossovers compared to other new vehicles, because crossovers really aim to do it all. It's unlikely that the highest price convertibles or pickup trucks would actually be competition for these crossovers. Still, auto manufacturers continue to strive to make their best crossover models an appealing solution for many vehicle needs.
