Getting firsthand information from an actual car owner is one sure way to get an idea of car performance once it leaves the lot. Autobytel features real consumer reviews that give the unbiased experience of a car.
Pros: 99% of the whole truck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Advice: Buy itI am 30 years old with three children. The whole family goes 4x4 in the desert, so much fun. I love this truck. The gas mileage is great. This thing turns in the middle of a neighborhood street with no problems and without having to do a three-point turn.
Pros: four wheel drive
Cons: didnt but sooner
Advice: for the price cant beat it. a true 4x4Suzuki offers some of the safest cars on the road. Personally I survived a bad crash in a 2 week old zuk and I opened the door and walked away from a totaled car. As for the vitara I couldn't be pleased more, as a scout leader I needed room for camping as well as some off road capabilities. I got it all, at a great price. Alittle slow on take off, but it is not a race car it is a suv.
Pros: The fact that it is designed in Japan and built in Canada!
Cons: Lack of full instrumentation. I need more than a gas and temp gauge!
Advice: Check the underbody for extreme rust. Check the AC condensor for leaks too. Watch clutch for abuse in the five speed modelsThis great little suv is an excellent buy for the money. Its tough, goes anywhere, and turns on a dime and gives you nine cents worth of change! I drove it to FL and back and got 28MPG overall. The heater really cranks but the AC is weak under hot humid conditions. Window tint will help here. Suzuki OEM parts are very expensive, perhaps this is where they make their margin on a low cost SUV.
Pros: The running lights and the fact that the driving lights come on automatically at dusk.
Cons: The back window gets very dirty very fast in bad weather.
Advice: This is an extremely 'fun' vehicle. Buy it for what it is and enjoy! This is a delightfully fun car to drive. It is very 'off-roadable' if that is your thing, but it is equally at home on the freeway or on longish trips. Don't be mistaken, however, it is essentially a two-passenger automobile with room for two more on an occasional short trip. It has a surprisingly large storage space behind the back seat, and with the back seat down, you could pack the State of Vermont in there with room to spare. With 127 hp the Vitara has power to spare, you can even pass going up hill with a quick shift down from 5th to 4th or (in a real emergency) 3rd. The mileage is fine (23/29 is our experience)and it uses regular. If you are looking for a relatively inexpensive genuinely multi-purpose vehicle, you can't go wrong with the soft-top, 4x4 Vitara. Even the cup-holders, which look suspiciously unreliable, work like a champ. Besides, it is so ugly it's cute, or so the ladies tell me.
