Getting firsthand information from an actual car owner is one sure way to get an idea of car performance once it leaves the lot. Autobytel features real consumer reviews that give the unbiased experience of a car.
Pros: Outside temp
Cons: Hmmm... I love this car... maybe the remote locker... it chirps rather than beeps I guess...
Advice: Definitely worth the money!Never had a single problem with my verona and have had it now for over 6 months. Only maintenence I have had to do was change the oil! Brought it on a couple trips now too. Put almost 10,000 miles on it and had NO problems...
Pros: The drive (when it's running properly) and the design
Cons: The stalling issue, the Suzuki dealerships in Florida that seem intent on letting people drive an unsafe vehicle
Advice: Don't buy this car. This car has been a problem from nearly the beginning. We bought is brand new in March 04. We had to have the driver side window replaced, the wiring on our steering wheel is wrong so the controls don't work properly and even though its been in the dealership twice for that problem, they still can't seem to fix it. And as was mentioned in this forum and many, many others. My car is stalling/shutting down completely. Sometimes you can feel it coming, other times it just cuts off without warning. The car doesn't like to sit in traffic. I am scared to death to drive it. It cut out on me yielding into traffic yesterday with my 2 year old in the back seat. After two times in the shop for this problem as well, I'm at a loss. The diagnostic report from the dealership each time tells us that they could find nothing wrong with the car. Unbelieveable. They reset the computer and once the car learned my pattern of driving over again, the problems with the stalling started all over again, only now on a fast-track. The dealership is trying to give me no recourse. I don't trust the car and I want out of it. According to florida law, we can do that within two years after many times of having it in the shop for the same problem, so we'll see. I will also try what the gentlman before my posting tried...going to the Attorney General of Florida. Please don't buy this car. Maybe the newer models are built better, but I wouldn't risk it. Good warranty or not.
Pros: Ride and feel.
Cons: Gas milage is weak.
Advice: There are still new 2004's out there. Great deals await!I was shocked that Suzuki offers such a fine option to the Camry, Altima and Accord. The price was way below the competition and the quality is as good.
Cons: Driving performance - it stalls and dies while driving
Advice: DO NOT BUY - CHECK RECALLS- ENGINE DIES!Vehicle stalls and is a safety hazard, I am scared to drive it.
Pros: The interior
Cons: Lack of acceleratioin
Advice: If your looking for a family sedan, this is the best deal out there right now.The Suzuki Verona EX caught my eye immediately when I saw that this luxury sedan was hardly expensive. It is the ideal family sedan and does great on long commutes. The luxurious interior makes you feel like your driving a $40,000 car but instead your doing it for half the price. The car has ample power on the open road and hugs the curves with ease, its quiet, has great climate control and the fully loaded version just spoils you, unfortunately this car does not pack the power of your standard V6 engine and you can find yourself yearning for a little speed when you accelerate. Overall a great car that will surely show promise in the future with its later models. Definetly will buy another Suzuki.
Pros: The smoothness and quietness of the engine.
Cons: Fuel economy
Advice: Compare features and price to other cars and you will be impressed.I have read quite a few of these reviews and I believe the guy who has the web site about his Verona lemon has written several of them under ficticious names. I have owned my Verona for over a year and have found it to be very reliable. There were two recalls. The first one was on the ECU (engine control module), which was fixed quickly and efficiently by the dealer. I was amazed at the short time I had to wait. It cured the rough idle problem and hesitation at low speeds. My car never stalled because of the problem, but did not idle smoothly for the first minute or so after starting it in the morning. The other recall was on the brake light switch. Mine never stuck, but it was replaced anyway under the warranty. This car drives and rides like a much more expensive automobile. Some of the complaints I have read about this car are rediculous. One so called 'professional tester' complained about the shape of the turn signal stalks. Others have complained about the colors of the display on the instrument panel and the fact that you cannot dim the a/c display. Many of the things testers complained about are actual benefits of the car. The speed sensitive power steering may cause some to say the steering seems vague, but I like this feature. It makes steering easier at low speeds while giving you more road feel at higher speeds. I have been very pleased with my Verona, especially when you consider what you get for the price compared to other cars in the same category. The Verona has much more for thousands of $$ less. Fuel mileage is my only complaint; it could be better. The best I have gotten on the highway is 29.5 mpg. Around town it is usually 21-23. This is a very good car. I have owned Suzukis for many years and have found them to be much better than average in the area of reliability. The Verona is a well-built car and anyone considering a car of this size and price should drive it. You will be impressed.
Cons: engine power and gas mileage
Advice: don't buy, no way!!!!!!!!!!!!!don't buy this car, very very poor performance, and the gas mileage really sucks, my verona has been back to the stealership 6 times, four times for the same thing, and going back once again next week, for the same prob, like a dead spot when accelerating,(dangerous) no more suzuki's for me.
