Getting firsthand information from an actual car owner is one sure way to get an idea of car performance once it leaves the lot. Autobytel features real consumer reviews that give the unbiased experience of a car.
A good sport utility vehicle. Gets through tough places with ease.
Cons: adjustable drivers seat. Its Loose on its track.
Advice: Shake the drivers seat to see if its loose.I have 3000 miles on my base 4wd model and am very impressed with all the standard features (radio controls on the steering wheel, ESP, MP3,...) you get for the money. It also goes like hell in the snow although MPG suffers (it went from 16+ city to 14.5 with snow on the pavement. My only real complaint is the mounting of the drivers seat which is loose and makes noises when you turn. I believe it is an engineering flaw because you can grab a hold of it from outside the car and shake the seat. I went back to the dealer and they all shake. I also asked them to ask suzuki north america to come up with a fix but have heard nothing yet. I love this vehicle but the driver seat pisses me off. If you have the same problem please complain and maybe they will do something about it.
Pros: Hard to name just one! The manual transmission shifts smoothly, good power, the instrument panel has a great design with crisp, white on black numbers, well placed. The seats are comfortable, very roomy interior, and a hard cargo cover is standard.
Cons: Not as many interior storage compartments as other SUVs, and clock/temperature/mileage display is red on black, a little hard to read.
Advice: Go for it! You'll love it. Excellent quality at an affordable price, and Suzuki dealers don't have the Toyota and Honda attitudes.I test drove the Ford Escape, Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4, Subaru Forester, and finally, the Suzuki Grand Vitara. I've driven Toyotas for nearly 20 years, keeping each car almost 10 years. The newer RAV4s, my first choice, no longer offer a 5 speed manual, and that was a requirement. Suzuki seems to be the best kept secret in the auto world. I thought they only made motorcycles and Sidekicks. The Grand Vitara drives extremely smooth (I haven't gone off roading yet), is very comfortable, feels solid, looks great, has a beautiful interior, great warranty and safety features, and the quality of Suzuki is right up there with Toyota and Honda.
