Getting firsthand information from an actual car owner is one sure way to get an idea of car performance once it leaves the lot. Autobytel features real consumer reviews that give the unbiased experience of a car.
Pros: Handling; extensive standard features list; Reliability
Cons: Interior design
Advice: Enjoy it!The GT Ltd. is a lot of car for the money. We looked at the Audi A4 & BMW 325xi but could not justify the $8G-$12G's difference in price. It has an extensive list of standard features not found in the other cars that would jack up the price difference even more. The GT handles quite well with its AWD and performance suspension although it is a bit below an BMW or Audi. Performance is adequate and I would suggest Subaru look at putting the WRX motor in as a performance option. (The 6 cyl. is overpriced). You also get to use regular unleaded gas versus the German's thirst for premium. The interior could use some restyling. It needs to be updated but it is comfortable and full featured. All in all this is about value. For less than $25G's actual price paid, you get an AWD car that handles very well, has most every option you can think of and has an excellent reliability history. You have to spend another $10g's or more to find a better car.
Pros: The versatility of the interior cargo space.
Cons: Automatic climate control. When activated the fan starts out on High, which can be annoying. It would be better to start on low or medium-low.
Advice: Test drive the vehicle for more than 30 minutes and test everything.Acceleration is very good, cornering is surprisingly good despite the size of the vehicle with very little lean. Braking is good which is attributed to the four wheel disc brakes. The vehicle rides very nicely and handles well. Sound system is quite good. If you can afford it, the premium sound package with subwoofer and in-dash CD changer are worth it. The weather-band (WB) feature on the radio is very useful. I never seen a WB in a vehicle before. Packed with lots of features to impress most drivers, the price is more than justified. Very satisfied customer here.
Pros: THE KEY
Cons: NO SUNROOF. ONCE YOU HAVE HAD ONE YOU NEED ONE.
Advice: DO NOT HESITATE! BUY IT AND FORGET ABOUT ANY REMORSE. GOOD CHOICEThis car is vastly different than my previous car (2000 civic ex with 200hp). Unfortunately it was stolen. The 'I' is special. it accelorates, makes curves and is generally alien to me. I wake up each day and look forward to driving my unnamed car. So far the turbo is a mystery to me. The 'brake-in period' is performed not very strictly. I bought the 'I' because it is fast and can handle abuse. That is how I drive. With regard to the positives, it is fast, handles well at all speeds, braking gives me confidence, even at very high speeds. The interior fits as a glove ( no not O.J.'s). Everything is right there at the reach or touch. As for shortcomings, below 3000 rpms, Fred Flinstone rips me off the line. I have plans for the future, but for now STOCK is paramount. I'm used to a GS-R motor and I could wind that motor forever. Not with the 'I'. (more future plans). 18's would improve handling. (future). All in All I truly love this car. When I learn to drive it properly that joy will be magnified greatly. I need good advice on how the improve a car which is almost perfect to begin with. Respect the car and other drivers and the rewards will surely follow. MORE INFO TO FOLLOW WITH ' MILES TO GO BEFORE I SLEEP'. .
Cons: Cup holder placement
Advice: A five minute test drive doesn't do it justiceAmazing acceleration, especially in rain or on dirt. I will often go out of my way to find a dirt road on the way home from work. This car in one word - FUN!! BTW- The picture at the top of this page is of 2001 model, look at profesional reviews to see the redesigned 2002 model.
Pros: Heated Leather Seats
Cons: No power Seats on the passenger side, No auto open on the sun roof.
Advice: Drive it on a rainy day to get an idea of how well it handles in crummy conditions. AWD all the time rocksI owned an older Legacy before I bought the 2002 Legacy GT limited. The interior of the car is extremely comfortable and I highly recommend the 5 speed for more fun. It actually has pretty good pick up and for the price, compared to a beemer, you get a lot of car with excellent performance and very god reliability. Change the oil, get your check ups and you will have a car for a long time. I am a Subaru fan for life.
Pros: Turbo enging coupled to AWD - super stealth supercar
Cons: Radio antenna placement, needs more power features
Advice: Dont drive one unless you are willing to purchase it!!!!!!!!!!!!After driving a 97 Maxima, I had a taste for luxury and speed. My next vehicle was a Jetta GLX. It was a sad disappointment from a performance and a comfort standpoint. The Jetta is simply too small for a 6'3' person and the performance was sub par. After some horribile quality problems, I test drove a WRX wagon and was thouroughly hooked. I can say this WRX is the fastest car I have ever owned and every day I drive reinforces the belief that this is the best car I have ever owned. It is lacking in luxury features, but the power the car delivers is truly intoxicating and makes up for any other shortcomings ( I have not found any yet). The car has more than enough headroom due to WRC heritage and the need to wear race helmets. It also has ample room for the outdoor recreations that I enjoy (mountain biking, snowboarding, etc.). Only dislikes are: 1. Needs more power features (passenger side one touch up/down window controls) and sunroof. 2. Antenna placement on A pillar
Pros: Great Stereo Sound
Cons: Premium fuel required by 6 cyl. engine.
Advice: The L.L. Bean Edition with its extra options is worth the price.Very smooth ride. Great sound system with optional CD-Changer Stereo. Seating very comfortable. Engine has excellent response. Brakes are outstanding. Very predictable handling.
