The Subaru Outback has been completely redesigned for the 2015 model year, and it made an appearance at the 2014 New York Auto Show. With a completely new chassis, experienced Subaru shoppers might be a little surprised to discover the 2015 Outback classified as a crossover, but it’s been creeping up on the crossover segment for a while. The new Subaru Outback maintains all the traditional features it’s become known for, and Dominic Infante from Subaru of America was happy to explain to Autobytel just what is new, different and exciting about this vehicle. The updated Outback boasts better fuel economy than its predecessor, with the 2.5-liter engine rated for 33 miles per gallon in highway driving. The other engine option for the 2015 Outback is a 3.6-liter six-cylinder, and both feature CVT transmissions. It’s more aerodynamic than the previous version, with sleeker pillars and less body cladding, although the designers took care to retain the telltale Subaru profile. An updated, adjustable roof rail design was in response to consumer feedback. The interior has been updated, with a cleaner electronic interface. All-wheel-drive is still standard on the new Outback. And the all new 2015 Subaru Outback still maintains the brand’s reliability, safety, and adventuresome attitude.
