    2005 Scion xA - (A4)

This is a great commuter car since the gas mileage is good, but not great for such a small car. It lacked power when it comes to continuous hill climbing road trips. Overall the handling is great with sports suspension that came original equipped, rather impressive. It's reliable for sure, not a surprise since it's a Toyota. I still would recommend this car to friends, but probably a manual transmission so the lack of power is not going to be so noticeable.

    good behicle

Cons: changing brakes one year after purchace

Economic, doesn't spend that much gas. Smooth. New no big expence on maintanance only problem is that original brakes last 1 year when you can purchase a good/great quality in a auto store and have them install, brakes will last longer.

    Pros: the stereo

    Cons: the throw away motor

Advice: be wary, aluminum head $$$$$repair$$$$$

I loved my car up until about 2 wks ago. I bought it new in 2005 gets great gas mileage compact yet comfortable...but....it started over heating last week it was the head gasket, had the head checked for cracks all was good and also had it resurfaced...they put it back together still overheating...the head is aluminum and is warped in one way or another...I already put almost a grand into fixing and now it needs a new head. it only has 103000 miles on it...I had hoped like alot of other foreign cars that it would last and last....no dice it is now just taking up space in my garage...oh yeah and I just paid it off too!!!

    Pros: Its size.

Cons: The interior marks pretty easily. Power is lacking a bit.

Advice: Great on gas and very affordable. If you keep it clean, hauling 4 people is a breeze.

I own this vehicle, so I have thoroughly tested it. Its size is very manageable, and if I need rear cargo room, I just fold down the seats. It's get up and go is a little lacking but that's not the car, it's the engine. And since it's a stick shift, I can get all the acceleration I need.

Pros: Everything on it makes sense.

    Cons: No cruise.

Advice: Drive it on lots of different pavement, really look it over for defects, and if you have issues that the dealer won't fix, call Scion directly. The warranty is much better than the dealership will let on.

I've got a 5 speed and lack of power doesn't seem to be a major issue. It handles well but does have a good hum to it on the highway (it could really use a 6th gear, as it runs at 3000 rpm at 60 mph), but that's why I don't have to downshift to pass. Due to the stiff suspension and short wheel base, the ride can be jarring, but thats the quality of the road reflected by the car, so it really vary. Handling is good, but the gas milage isn't all it's cracked up to be. The best way to sum it up is this: It's almost like driving an ultra-super-duper-refined air cooled VW bug....with heat and A/C. If you want a smoother, quieter ride with more power and all the options that are on this car, look in the $16000+ range.
