i bought my 2002 saturn in 2004 and to date i have spent over 6,000 dollars on repairs.no wonder the company went out of business.
Pros: V6 Engine
Cons: Mechanical Reliability
Advice: So far they have stood behind the warrantyWell, I thought I bought a good vehicle from a good company. Now I am not so sure. In the first 16000 miles the car has been in the shop for a total of about 10 days now for two differnent problems. The Driver's seat cover has been replaced twice because it failed. Secondly, and more serious has been the engine problem. The vehicle suddenly didn't want to start when the engine was cold. It would routinely stall, and run rough until the engine ran for a minute or two. The first attempt to find the problem was a failure. The dealer returned the car said no problems were found. I returned the vehicle a week later with the same problem and they finally confirmed the problem but cannot find the problem. They have brought Saturn Engineering to troubleshoot. The car has now been in the shop for almost 5 days. Saturn did provide a free rental and have been good with update on what is being done.
Pros: Traction Control
Cons: When car is put in gear the transmission seems non-existent. As if there is no power until accelerator is pushed.
Advice: Take care of this car and it will take care of you. A pure joy to drive. My first two L-Series were 4-cyl's. and I cannot tell you how much more fun this car is to drive. Power when you demand it and the ride is incredibly smooth. I broke my hip a few years ago and I have no trouble staying comfortable on road trips. Responsive on the road and very well mannered.
Pros: Power and smooth ride
Cons: Seat comfort is poor.....especially with a bad lower back.
Advice: I'd recommend test driving it and if your comfort level in the vehicle is good, buy it.I bought a 04 L300 2 with about 15k miles on it and havent had a problem with it at all. Well, except for the back window brake light that didnt want to stay put. The dealer fixed it in 5 mins for no cost. Overall, the quality of the vehicle is very good and , like most V6 GM products, it will get up and go when u ask it. Some hesitation is evident but not worrysome. I like the vehicle and would recommend it in a New York minute to anyone.
Pros: The power and performance of the V6 engine, and the incredible highway manners of the vehicle.
Cons: The V6 is a little thirstier than I had expected.
Advice: If you want a nice four-door sedan to impress your friends, purchase this vehicle.I recentualy purchased a 2003 Saturn L300 with every available option, and I absolutely love the car (no regrets). I have not experienced this vibration problem mentioned by the previous two reviews, my car is as smooth as glass on the highway. In fact, that is where the Saturn shines the most. The power the car has coupled with the supple ride and quite interior make it the perfect highway cruiser (not to mention the DVD player to keep my friends entertained). After all is said and done, I believe that this car has a lot to offer anyone in the market for a four-door sedan.
Pros: Besides hesitating on acceleration and vibration at 45 - 70 the car is great.
Cons: hesitating on acceleration and vibration at 45 - 70.
Advice: Not to buy'Looks great.Vibration at 55-75 with no apparetnt fix. Service manager says the vibration is inherent to the Aluminum rims. This after I've had the car in five times. Like the guy b4 me in October from Hendersonville it would have been nice to have known before I purchased this car. I did a bit of research and saw nothing on this prevelant issue. Even now in June of 05 not much detail out thier to protect the consumer. Thanks, ST. Petersburg FL 33702
Pros: The price. The value. What you pay for what you get.
Advice: Great value.Great test drive. I liked the car. The 4 cylinger engine (2.2l) is a good engine but a little underpowered for the L300. I bought my '04 L300 for a drive away price of $18,200! This includes taxes, 100K extended warranty ($50 deductible). The car has every option except leather and sun roof. I love it.
