Advice: Check aroundI went to buy a Hyundai.. my second choice was a PT Cruiser.. I ended up with a Saturn 300... go figure. I am, however, pleased with the car. The 0% interest and the $2200 they knocked off the price helped my pleasure, and overall, it's turning out to be a good car. I live in an area with 6 & 7% grade hills, and the V6 pulls me up them nicely. I would like to see a newer body design, as this one is a bit stodgy. At the end of the day, it's a good car for the dollar.

Advice: There ARE options available with the SE (cassette, ash trays, etc.). Get the console, but don't pay for the installation! My dealer did not charge, but I've read where others have.Have only had it for 500 miles, but I am so glad I looked into this before buying a Cavalier. This is a roomy, comfortable car with decent performance and great safety features. Excellent stereo, very good handling and braking. The Special Edition is a classy looking car without the price. If the mileage and quality are as advertised, I can't see myself regretting this purchase one bit. Speaking of purchase, the 0% financing is very nice. Anyone looking at smaller imports should really consider this one as well.

Advice: Look no furtherI purchased the 2002 L100 Speical Edition on July 3, 2002. This has been the best car I've owned. I was looking to purchase a new car that was low cost far as the up keep. Also, I like the saturn's safety features. The L100 Speical Edition has curtain air bags this feature was most important to me. Also the room inside the back seat was a plus. I have enjoyed every minuite of my new saturn. I think I will have this car for many years to come.

Advice: Get the 6cylI bought mine in Oct and I love it. We took a 5hr drive when we first got it and I couldn't believe how comfortable and smooth the ride was. We also have the auto climate control (which I think they did away with) and the car stayed the perfect temp the whole way. Also the 6 cd player helped it be a wonderful trip.

Cons: Narrow driver seat, gas cap that can be open by anyone walking up to the car, and the rough cloth surface where the driver left elbow rests.
Advice: Ask your saleperson at the dealership to help get 1-2 accessory items at cost for you. You can really save a few bucks this way.I agree with JoAnne of Staten Island - definitely consider this car along side all the foreign competition. Mine is also a L100 Special Edition which I bought on 3/31/01 (3/31 was the last day for the 60-month 0% financing) and I have now put 2,200 miles on it. The only problem I have come across so far is the outside air-flow shutoff - it seems to do nothing to block the outside air from entering the cabin. I had my eyes set on a 2002 Honda Civic 4-Dr EX for months, but decided out of curiousity to see the Saturns on 3/30/02. I was immediately bowled over by the fact that for the same price I would have paid for the Civic I can get a quieter, roomier, heavier car with dent/ding resistant polymer panels, a metal timing-belt that won't need changing every 60K miles, head-curtain airbags plus traction control, and even a spoiler to boot. What pushed me over the edge was the 30-day, 1,500-mile full refund guarantee if I wasn't happy with the car. The gas mileage, parking, and driver side-impact rating are not nearly as nice as the Civic. However, current side-impact tests only measure chest injuries and not head/neck ones. So, I would rather have the head-curtain in the Saturn than the side airbag in the Civic. Another plus for the Saturn is the very spacious trunk (17.5 cu. ft.!). The buying experience was also a joy. No pressure and very sincere sales people. The only stupid mistake I made was asking for the arm rest to be installed which costed $190. I realized later that I could have bought it for $90 in the Parts Dept. myself and just snapped it in. Good grief! At least my salesperson was willing to get the mudguards for me at cost when I lasked him several weeks later and I installed them myself very easily.
