Porsche Announces Pricing for 2011 Porsche Cayenne

Following the introduction of the all-new Porsche Panamera last year and some high-performance models of the Porsche 911 already this year, Porsche is inching closer to the launch of its redesigned 2011 Porsche Cayenne by revealing the pricing for its sporty SUV. Expected to go on sale during this summer, the second-generation Cayenne will have a starting MSRP that ranges from $46,700 for the Cayenne up to $104,800 for the Cayenne Turbo. All 2011 Porsche Cayenne models come standard with all-wheel drive.

The base Porsche Cayenne has a starting MSRP of $46,700 (an increase of $1,200 compared to 2010), and it comes with the same 3.6-liter V-6 that is being added to the Panamera's engine bay later this year. This engine produces 300 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque to give the Cayenne acceleration from zero to 60 miles per hour as fast as 7.1 seconds with a top speed of 142 mph. The 2011 Porsche Cayenne will offer a six-speed manual transmission or Porsche's eight-speed Tiptronic S gearbox. Standard features on the Cayenne include leather seats and steering wheel, power liftgate, rain-sensing windshield wipers, 18-inch wheels with all-season tires, a driver memory package for the driver seat and side mirror position and 12-way power adjustable front seats.

Stepping up in performance, the Porsche Cayenne S has a starting MSRP of $63,700 (an increase of $3,000 compared to 2010). This model is powered by a 4.8-liter V-8 that puts out 400 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. The only transmission available on the Cayenne S is the eight-speed Tiptronic S gearbox which helps provide quick acceleration from zero to 60 mph in 5.6 seconds with a top speed of 160 mph. Except for the addition of the V-8 engine, the Cayenne S comes with the same standard features as the Cayenne.

All of the new Cayenne models deliver decent performance, but the top-of-the-line Porsche Cayenne Turbo should have enough to feel like a five-passenger 911. To match the 911-like performance, the Cayenne Turbo will also have a 911-like price with a starting MSRP of $104,800 (an increase of $4,900 compared to 2010). Powering the Cayenne Turbo is a twin turbocharged version of the 4.8-liter V-8 used in the Cayenne S and is tuned to produce 500 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque. Porsche says that this model will have a zero to 60 mph time of just 4.4 seconds with a top speed of 172 mph. Like the Cayenne S, the only transmission available for the Turbo is the eight-speed Tiptronic S gearbox. Adding to the standard features available on the Cayenne and Cayenne S, the 2011 Cayenne Turbo also comes with Bi-Xenon, auto-leveling headlights, Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) air suspension, DVD-based navigation system, five-inch color monitor in instrument cluster, aluminum interior trim, Alcantara headliner and 19-inch wheels with all-season tires.

All-new for 2011, Porsche will add a hybrid-electric version called the Cayenne S Hybrid which has a starting MSRP of $67,700. The Cayenne S Hybrid comes with the same standard features as the base Cayenne. This model is a full (parallel) hybrid-electric vehicle (HEV) that combines the 3.0-liter supercharged V-6 from the Audi S4 and with an electric motor. Hybrids are generally known for their fuel economy, but the Cayenne S Hybrid will continue to deliver Porsche-like performance with a combined output of 380 horsepower and 428 lb-ft of torque. This unique system can operate under full electric power at speeds up to 40 miles per hour and the engine can be switched off for a cruising mode at speeds of up to 97 mph 'sailing'? mode. Porsche claims that the Cayenne S Hybrid will be the cleanest-running vehicle in Porsche's lineup.

Official EPA fuel economy estimates and pricing for additional option packages have not been released yet, but they should be available closer to the 2011 Cayenne's release date.
