Porsche's Secret 911 V8 Project
Destined to Serve as Successor to the 959 Supercar
Psst, want to know a secret? During the eighties, Porsche engineers built a prototype variant of the 911 with a V8 powerplant. The model, named the 965, would have been the successor to the technologically-advanced 959, complete with an active suspension and all-wheel drive. But towards the end of the eighties, the project was cancelled and the prototype was put away, uncertain whether it would ever see the light of day. Well, the folks at Porsche have decided it's time to revive the project, and they've decided to tell a whole new generation its story.
