    2003 Pontiac Grand Am - GT1 Sedan

Pros: Rear spoiler deck, fuel economical.

Cons: Several in its class with more powerful V6's and the same, if not better, gas mileage. Also stuck on 4-speed AOD instead of changing to 5-speed AOD. And no trip computer.

Advice: Check the Honda Accord EX V6 and Toyota Camry V6 sedan instead!

It is one thing when competitors' in this size class come with one thing this does not. It is a trip computer. But it is another when even the smaller Sunfire coupe does! I thoroughly checked this one out and compared it to its competitors' and even both the Cavalier and Sunfire. I am more impressed with the Cavalier sedan than this one! The Cavalier LS sedan I checked on has a standard trip computer. This one is not even available with one optional! And comparing it to several of its competitors in the same size category, I was further disappointed with this sedan! It has insufficient power compared to the others with a more powerful V6 that get about the same M.P.G. or better. It is not available with leather seats or heated seats or a driver's side height adjuster or lumbar support. Nor does it come with a 5-speed AOD yet. Therefore, I suggest checking the V6 Accord, Camry and Mazda 6 instead! Hopefully, Pontiac will get the hint and improve this for 2004.

2003 Pontiac Grand Am - SE Sedan

    Pros: The sporty appearance.

Cons: Noise level inside the vehicle.

Advice: Buy V6 SE1 model with power seats and windows if you can afford it.

Good Things: I fell in love with the vehicle from the get go. Very sporty looking! Had good get up and go for a 4cy and drives really good even in the mountains up to 9500' elevation. Great handling and good sound system. Red lit instrument panel is easy on the eyes. I purchased the vehicle at Ferguson Pontiac in Colorado Springs and had the best buying experience ever. Bad Things: Vehicle is kind of noisy and there seems to be an excessive amount of glare reflected on the inside of the windshield even in low lighting. Front seating is somewhat snug and you have to move your head when using the sun visors. Back seats are a little snug. Would prefer a full size spare instead of the smaller emergency spare. Front headlights are not as bright as my Toyota Camry. My Camry is much more roomier.

2002 Pontiac Grand Am - SE Sedan

Pros: definately the handleing in the corners

Cons: The red backlighting on the dash.

Advice: Drive this car hard. See what it can do.

While looking for a new vehicle, I drove my sister's 2002 Gran Am. WOW!!!! What a ride! this car really rocks!! handled great in the corners. Dashboard lay-out is very convenient and functional. Outstanding pick up. For a little 4 cylinder, this engine has GUTS!!! Helped me make up my mind about which car I wanted to buy.

    2002 Pontiac Grand Am - SE1 Sedan

    Pros: Seats

    Cons: Trim

Advice: Make sure you have a good service department that is within a reasonable distance cuz you might need it.

My car from the very beginning has had wierd problems. The first big one took 3 dealers to figure out what it was. Now it has some kind of running problem where it idols ok then vibrates when the idol seems to slow down. This goes back & forth. So far, I have been to 2 dealers who can't figure out what it is. Neither can the tech line at Pontiac. I guess the car will have to break down or fall apart before they can diagnose it.

    2002 Pontiac Grand Am - SE1 Sedan

    Pros: The Handling & Performance

Cons: Can't think of a thing!

    Advice: Stay away from 1999

JUST bought a 2000 Grand AM (SE1). Test drove it first. Absolutely WONDERFUL!! Stunned that a 4Cyl could have this much 'Get Up & Go'!!! Love the color, the sound system, the AC, the handling, AND I can SEE EVERYTHING, which, for me is a plus, because I'm short!!! (Did LOTS of research before buying...definitely stayed away from the 1999 model...seems bad things happening with that particular year.) My first CAR!(I always drove a truck) Don't know why I waited so long to own one.
