Pros: 200 watt sound system
Cons: poor performance V-6 Horrible Gas Mileage 260 per Tank
Advice: DO NOT PURCHASE AN ALERO,DON'T DO IT!!I am on my second Alero, first one was returned the next day to dealer, due to a faulty weld on the R/R roof area. Dealer found another one with more equipment. I had to pay the difference. This car has been just a nightmare. One week after ownership it was at dealer for a week. The radio was scratched, trunk scratched- covered up with touch up paint to hide at time of delivery, did not notice the damage until second day in my garage. Sunvisor/headliner had dirt and grease on it. All four door panels replaced, all were peeling, new panels are also failing 4 months later. steering wheel shakes when braking-warped rotors at 5,000 miles. Mileage display went dim at 200 miles. Right windshield molding loose. Center console falling to pieces. There is also much more to mention, but don't want to run out of space...
Pros: The dynamic styling and the way it handles.
Cons: Entry into the back seat on the coupe.
Advice: Its worth the investment !Actually, I own a 1999 Alero GL coupe with a V6 3.4 engine. I Love it! I'm thinking about trading it in for a new one but I hate to give this one up!
Pros: The GLS supreme sound system is one of the best stock stereos I have ever heard
Cons: Dependability. When you buy a new car you need to know it won't break on you with only 4,000 miles
Advice: This car is a good car for a younger group. Not so good for people who haul a bunch of things in their carI've had 4 cars in my short driving career. One was a 1980 Thunderbird, one was a 1994 Cutlass Supreme, one was a 1996 Grand Am GT, and finally I bought this Brand New Alero GLS coupe with all the bells and whistles. I bought this car in April of 2002 and so far it's been in the shop for a total of 2 1/2 weeks, for power steering. Other than that it has been an excellent car. Four people took it on a 10 hour road trip, and it was surprisingly comfortable. If you fold down the back seat you can make sort-of bed and it is really a nice quiet car, and fun to drive.
Pros: on/off automatic headlights
Cons: rear seats dont stay in place.
Advice: Cant go wrong with this car..!!A great car for anyone in the market for a nice midsize sedan or coupe. Comfortable interior, easy to use ergonomics, and good visability. Powertrain is excellent especially the V6, ample power and super quiet operation throughout powerband. Just a great car and a great value for anyone in the market for a good car.
Cons: Interior room is on the small side, but not bad.
Advice: Try to find a better value for what you get.The 2.2L is peppy, handling is great. I love the look of the car, especially the interior. It feels like a luxury car although I paid only 17150 after discount and 2750 in rebates! But, it also has the looks and feel os a sports car. Awesome (upgrade) sterio system! Tons of really nice standard features that I couldn't find on the competitors vehicles.
Pros: Performance Package with all season hi speed performance radial tires
Cons: Some wind noise comes through - could be a little more quiet
Advice: Good price; 5yr /60,000 provides good extended coverageThis vehicle is stylish, with clean lines, is well appointed with many standard features: power windows, locks, steering, ABS brakes, Dual AirBags, Daytime Running Lamps, 16' Alloy Wheels and a relatively quiet 3.4 litre 24 valve V6, for a very reasonable price. I compared it against some foreign vehicles in the same class, and the Alero was, almost always, about $10 grand less. The 4 speed automatic is smooth.
Pros: Smooth ride and handling
Cons: Emergency brake location
Advice: The Alero is based on the exact suspension as the Grand Am, but the Alero's features are what sets them apartThe most exciting and exhilerating rides I've ever experienced in a car. The handling on the Alero blew away the competition. I've spent the last 3 months looking at Alero's, Grand Am's, and Malibu's. The Alero, by far, beat them all to the line. I've purchased my new Alero and couldn't be more satisfied.
