2002 Nissan Xterra - SE (A4) 4x2
I love this car. I have put over 180,000 miles on it and it still drives like it can go another 180,000 miles. First SUV I have owned and I am a big fan. My friends love the "stadium seating" in the back (slightly raised above the front). I like all of the tie down points on the roof for moving things. The trunk is big and overall the car is very roomy. I love this line of SUVs from Nissan

2002 Nissan Xterra - SE (M5) 4x2
Pros: the sound system
Advice: get the superchargedIt was ok but i seriously hate the pick up it sucks
2002 Nissan Xterra - SE S/C (M5) 4x2
Advice: Buy the SE SupercharedLoved it and bought it. Had to replace the fan clutch at 37,000 miles though. Fuel economy is terrible even with mellow driving. Great truck any way.
2002 Nissan Xterra - SE (M5) 4x2
Pros: ample head and leg room
Cons: cloth on the seats
Advice: great value for your moneyOf all the cars we've owned, we believe this vehicle is the best value for a car. The Xterra is a very reasonable purchase for a car that never, ever has given us any problems at all. We love our Xterra and will be sad to give it up when the lease is over. We will probably buy a new Xterra at that point because we think the vehicle is a great buy.
2002 Nissan Xterra - XE S/C (M5) 4x4
Pros: door handles
Cons: lack of pep
Advice: test drive to make sure the slow pick up speed will not drive you crazyI love my Xterra. The 6 CD changer in the dash is great, but the sound could be better. I replaced some speakers but still want an amp since I like to blast music. I have had no problems with the car in the 2 years I have had it other than a bit of rust over the back window. It looked like faulty paint. I like the square look and love the door handles. Not only do they look good, but I have found since they are so high, they dont get the winter road crud all over them. The seats are comfortable enough. And the ride is good. It has plenty of power but no pep. My other car is an Lexus SC430, so passing in this car seems bad. But I know part of it is my view. There is some upgraded engine option, maybe it is better. It handles well in the snow. I think this car looks good and it a good value. As long as you can live with the lack of pep, I would highly suggest it.
2002 Nissan Xterra - XE S/C w/VSS (M5) 4x4
Pros: 4x4 capabilities with manual 5 speed trans
Cons: roll over resistance really sucks
Advice: Wait for the 2005 with wider stance and longer wheelbaseComfort was a problem with the driver's seat leg room being cramped even with the seat all the way back. Performance was fair with this 4x4 manual 5 speed. Did a lot of off road time without any problems. Vehicle was sqirrely off road in 2WD. Gas mileage sucked. Had transmission replaced under warrenty at 48K. Had fuel pump system replaced under warrenty after dealer screwed up fuel system recall work. Was left stranded in the wilderness with a huge towing bill. Wife rolled vehicle 3 times in Death Valley and lived with minor cuts and bruises. Roll over stability is very poor. Vehicle cage construction held up very well during roll over. That and seat belts saved a life.
2002 Nissan Xterra - XE (M5) 4x2
Pros: Rugged looks
Cons: Gas mileage
Advice: If you want a smooth ride, buy an Escalade. Not a vehicle for luxury minded people. Definately not a wimpy, car framed SUV. Sits on a truck chassis which gives you the rugged feeling when driving. Overall very satisfied with my truck. Only had one problem with my truck so far and that was the evaporator. I would recommend this vehicle to anyone.
