New 2011 Nissan Rogue Gets Style, MPG Improvements
The new 2011 Nissan Rogue sports a freshened exterior and improved gas mileage. Already one of the most fuel-efficient compact SUVs on the road, the update serves as good news for those looking to conserve mpgs. Take a look at the new 2011 Nissan Rogue to review changes, available packages and performance.
2011 Nissan Rogue - What's New?
The majority of the changes to the 2011 Rogue are purely cosmetic. On the outside, the Rogue now sports a front end that is similar to the one found on the current Nissan Murano. Feature changes include the addition of a simplified eggcrate-style grille, embellished foglamps and updates to the both the front and rear spoilers.
All in all these minor changes are good improvements to an already attractive car. The Rogue has always been a vehicle focused on good looks, and the changes here do much to enhance that goal.
Less visible changes to the exterior include front-wheel spats and a revised underbody tray. Thanks to these aerodynamic revisions, base models of the Nissan Rogue now offer 22 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway. Models outfitted with all-wheel drive are expected to rate at 22 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway.
On the inside, the only major change for the 2011 Rogue is an upgraded entertainment system.
2011 Nissan Rogue Interior
The 2011 Nissan Rogue offers the same roomy and upscale interior that it did last year. Fit and finish remains excellent given the low price tag. Front-row seating is exceptionally comfortable. However, the rear seat is a bit cramped when hauling a maximum occupancy of five. Kick one of those passengers to the curb, however, and the Rogue is roomy enough to adequately accommodate a party of four.
2011 Nissan Rogue Features
For 2011, Nissan is adding an SV trim (the V stands for value). Standard features available on the SV include Bluetooth capabilities, 6-way power driver's seat with power lumbar support, Intelligent Key technology and more. Given that the 2010 base model was already one of the most affordable models in the class, the new SV trim only serves to ratchet up the competition.
Two upgrade packages return to offer much of the same features as last year. The Rogue Krom Edition boasts 17-inch dark alloy wheels, center-mounted exhaust, rear spoiler, tinted windows and steering-wheel controls. The SL adds such features as roof rails, fold-down front passenger seat and tinted windows.
2011 Nissan Rogue Performance
There are no changes for the 2011 Rogue's engine. The lone power plant option is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder that outputs 170 horsepower. While some may lament the lack of a V-6 option, the Rogue is not an SUV geared towards performance. Rather, it offers a stylish, comfortable ride that is meant to calm the driver rather than accelerate the heart rate. If that's okay with you, then the new 2011 Nissan Rogue is certainly worth a test drive.
